NBA Hall of Famer and TNT commentator Charles Barkley said on Friday that he believes "thug" and "street cred" are racial slurs that are equivalent to the "N-word."

That's why I place very little stock in a mere party label and why the whole breathless "But...but...but...Martin Luther King was a Republican!!!" has no meaning whatsoever. History reveals that a number of socialists and outright commies had the 'R' next to their name. RINO is a comparatively recent term but people like Fighting Bob La Follette, George Norris, John Lindsay, Jacob Javits and hundreds of others were certainly Republicans and most certainly not Conservative.
And in the past, there were (believe it or not) some people branded with the dreaded 'D' who were actually pro-God and pro-America patriots, one of whom was Texan Morris Dees. As much as anyone, it was he who paved the way for Senator Joe McCarthy's brave fight to expose the enemy within.

Odd. My first experience with thugs was with two union thugs who threatened me with physical harm. They were both white, and my image of a generic thug matches those thugs.
I call them, “Tyrone and Jerome” and I’m a 68 year old, black man.
