MSNBC got rid of Keith Olbermann with some difficulty and then they went and hired a guy who makes Keith look well adjusted and then they fired him.
Alec Baldwin thinks his former MSNBC colleague Rachel Maddow is “a phony.”
“She’s a phony who doesn’t have the same passion for the truth off-camera that she seems to have on the air,” Baldwin told New York Magazine’s Joe Hagan in an extensive tell-all published late Sunday night.
Baldwin’s short-lived MSNBC program ended late last year after he made homophobic threats to a photographer. In December, The New York Post insinuated that Maddow had been responsible for his termination.
In this week’s tell-all, Baldwin says the Page Six report was part of an effort by MSNBC president Phil Griffin to discredit him, but went on to endorse the suggestion that Maddow had played a role in his departure.
“Once they fired me, a former MSNBC employee I knew emailed me. He said, ‘You watch now, Phil is going to start leaking left and right to bury you.’ When I left, ‘Page Six’ was flooded with lies about me,” Baldwin says.
“Another source told me, ‘You know who’s going to get you fired, don’t you? Rachel. Phil will do whatever Rachel tells him to do,’” Baldwin said. “I think Rachel Maddow is quite good at what she does. I also think she’s a phony who doesn’t have the same passion for the truth off-camera that she seems to have on the air.”
Alec Baldwin is notorious for nothing if not for a passion for the truth. That and screaming things at photographers.
Also possibly his lack of ratings and total public disinterest might have contributed to his firing.
Baldwin sounds like a man who waded into a company that he really didn’t understand which is in the middle of its own internal civil war and the Anti-Maddow side got to him first. But between Ronan Farrow and Chris Hayes, Rachel Maddow’s attempt at turning MSNBC into an even lamer Air America complete with an army of clones will probably tank it even sooner.
MaddowSNBC doesn’t have much room for the drunken liberal Alpha male and wannabe Alphas, it goes right to the Betas. So Ed Schultz and Alec Baldwin had to go.
But Maddow and Baldwin didn’t get along even before Alec Baldwin got his MSNBC gig with Baldwin making critical comments about her. Maddow may not have forgotten… or forgiven.

Since Maddow’s a guy in drag, that rules “her” out. Must be Baldwin.

MSNBC is part of NBCU which is part of Comcast.
Their 2013 revenue was $65 billion with $6 billion net income.

This is pretty funny, add to that that Megyn Kelly was doing some fun segments on Baldwin’s lunacy on her show while Maddow’s show was running.
But they were not on the same occurrences, Kelly’s were on Baldwin’s verbal attacks and threats on a female reporter.
Maddow only cares about the ‘slur’

He compared Mika to Margaret Dunning ( who was the comic foil in the Marx Brothers movies ). That had to hurt.

Baldwin didn’t realize that calling a TMZ guy a “toxic little queen” would be offensive or considered homophobic.
He said Maddow basically runs MSNBC, and he called her “a phony who doesn’t have the same passion for the truth off-camera that she seems to have on the air.”
He regards the media as “superfluous at best and toxic at its worst.” The media measures you by “how you are on your worst day.”
“The heart, the arteries of the country are now clogged with hate.”
He considered running for office. Says he would have decentralized the schools and changed the paparazzi laws.
He would “reduce NY’s shameful tax burden.” Says he doesn’t “think liberal or progressive; just common sense.”
“Shia LaBeouf went to a film screening recently and he wore a bag over his head and the bag says I AM NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE. And there was truly a part of me that felt sorry for him, oddly enough.”
“Warren Beatty, who is mystifyingly intelligent and wise, said to me: Your problem is a very basic one, and it’s very common to actors. And that’s when we step in front of a camera, we feel the need to make it into a moment.”
It sounded to me that the kind of show he wanted to put on MSNBC was kind of like Buckley’s Firing Line or the Dick Cavett show - albeit without the wit and intelligence.

Good point. Liberals probably still buy viagra and other stuff advertized on MSNBC. However, ratings are everything for advertisers and if ratings are lower then less can be charged for advertising.
Also, there is the NBC part of it which most Americans probably watch. And not just the news part of it. I don’t watch it though.
Taking MSNBC separately, what happens if it starts to lose money. How long will the rest of the more profitable entitities of NBCU continue to support it? Business is business.
What typically happens is that it is sold or spun off.

I think he’s bipolar, a real bipolar not like these ones who get phony diagnoses to excuse their drug/booze addictions. Mel Gibson is another one. Him and Mel should make a movie called “The Manic guys”. One minute they are calm then completely fly off the handle like demons and beat each other up.

First movie I saw him in was Beetlejuice. Liked him in that. Can’t remember any other movie he was in that I watched.
