Good point. Liberals probably still buy viagra and other stuff advertized on MSNBC. However, ratings are everything for advertisers and if ratings are lower then less can be charged for advertising.
Also, there is the NBC part of it which most Americans probably watch. And not just the news part of it. I don’t watch it though.
Taking MSNBC separately, what happens if it starts to lose money. How long will the rest of the more profitable entitities of NBCU continue to support it? Business is business.
What typically happens is that it is sold or spun off.
