“...up to 20 years in prison for committing a crime using an unmanned aircraft equipped with a deadly weapon...”
Of course, a drone itself can BE a deadly kinetic weapon when directed at a person or at a location that will likely cause death (see my tag line).

Does that include the government for spying on people without a warrent?

Looks like the Powers That Be see drones as a threat. Imagine being “in charge” and not knowing of someone is collecting footage of you.
Then there are the contraband/smuggling aspects.
And did you see the video of the guy who mounted a paintball gun on a drone? You don’t have to have paint in the paintballs.

And what would a crime be?

Video recording the police has been determined to be legal. If I use a drone to follow police activity, I assume that’s legal.

How about a MANDATORY 20 year jail sentence for anyone who commits fraud against the government, with a ONE-YEAR amnesty for people who turn themselves in and explain how they were able to scam, and a reward for anyone who turns in someone else of 10% of the money saved.

I’m somewhat surprised that local TV stations haven’t started using drones for traffic monitoring. Seems they’d be much cheaper than helicopters.

Make sure your drone obeys all stop lights & signs and only crosses street at cross-walks....WITH the light!

“Police could operate drones but only for legitimate law enforcement purposes.” Now that’s a big hole right there.
Just who do they think will have access to weaponized drones?

"up to 20 years in prison for committing a crime using an unmanned aircraft equipped with a deadly weapon, and up to 10 years in prison for other crimes with a drone."
What would those "other crimes" be?
