If theres one thing more annoying than an American liberal elitist lecturing Americans on appropriate conduct and conversation, its a British liberal elitist lecturing Americans on appropriate conduct and conversation.
Piers Morgan is out at CNN. Cheerio! The New York Times reported:
There have been times when the CNN host Piers Morgan didnt seem to like America very much and American audiences have been more than willing to return the favor. Three years after taking over for Larry King, Mr. Morgan has seen the ratings for Piers Morgan Live hit some new lows, drawing a fraction of viewers compared with competitors at Fox News and MSNBC.Its been an unhappy collision between a British television personality who refuses to assimilate the only football he cares about is round and his lectures on guns were rife with contempt and a CNN audience that is intrinsically provincial. After all, the people who tune into a cable news network are, by their nature, deeply interested in America.
CNNs president, Jeffrey Zucker, has other problems, but none bigger than Mr. Morgan and his plum 9 p.m. time slot. Mr. Morgan said last week that he and Mr. Zucker had been talking about the shows failure to connect and had decided to pull the plug, probably in March.
Crossing an ocean for a replacement for Larry King, who had ratings problems of his own near the end, was probably not a great idea to begin with. For a cable news station like CNN, major stories are like oxygen. When something important or scary happens in America, many of us have an immediate reflex to turn on CNN. When I find Mr. Morgan telling me what it all means, I have a similar reflex to dismiss what he is saying. It is difficult for him to speak credibly on significant American events because, after all, he just got here.
I received a return call from Mr. Morgan and was prepared for an endless argument over my assumptions. Not so. His show, he conceded, was not performing as he had hoped and was nearing its end.
Its been a painful period and lately we have taken a bath in the ratings, he said, adding that although there had been times when the show connected in terms of audience, slow news days were problematic.
Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarizing, and there is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging on about it, he said. Thats run its course and Jeff and I have been talking for some time about different ways of using me.
I remember that! I was just discovering the incomparable Jackie Evancho myself, and was dumbfounded by Morgan's inappropriate comment.
Jackie had just finished giving a jaw dropping performance that brought tears to the eyes, and here's this twit congratulating himself. Just stunning arrogance.
Good Riddance to that Stinking Lobster Back Slime.
Who cares about CNN? Nobody, according to the ratings.
If CNN could get better ratings if they would replace this wanker with a monkey and add voice over.
Looks like Omerosa was right after all.
I hope the creep takes his slovenly idiotic studio audience
with him. They are just as ignorant as he is.
In Eighteen-Fourteen we took a little trip.
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississipp.
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans.
And we fought the bloody British in the town of New Orleans.
We fired our cannon til the barrel melted down
Then we grabbed an alligator and we fired another round.
We filled his head with cannon balls and powdered his behind
And when we set the powder off the gator lost his mind.
—— I remember that song from the early 1960’s.
Go back to England where you belong, red coat.
I like your plan best!
They want something to replace him at 9 PM, its obvious ratings are not at all important to them but only their liberal anti Christian slant.
If they wanted to they could actually compete and even overtake Fox, but they have zero interest in being fair and balanced.
So probably they give the show to a practicing Muslim, or maybe they will have live abortions performed, who knows?
actually that would explain everything
Rather than “Cheerio”, I believe that the more appropriate Britishism in this case is “Sod off”.
I give him credit for acknowledging this. Too many liberal hosts will just hang around for years and blame the audience's "lack of sophistication" for their low ratings.
I thought Piers was OK as a judge on America's Got Talent. Brits are good at puncturing the egos of the inflated self-esteem crowd, and he had a Simon Cowell-esque manner about him. He should stick to light entertainment, where his insufferable smugness has comedic value. :)
[Morgan] Thats run its course and Jeff and I have been talking for some time about different ways of using me.

Chum.
Given your expertise, I'm sure that the toilets at CNN will soon be sparkling more than ever!
The British don’t want him, we don’t want him. I hear North Korea might be interested.
