The Dalai Lama got a frosty closed-door reception from President Barack Obama Feb. 21, one day after he got a public bear-hug from the conservative American Enterprise Institute.
The world’s most famous Buddhist returned the conservatives’ respect by offering a compliment for the AEI’s civic-minded capitalism.
“After to listen [sic] yesterday and to the presenters today, I developed more respect about capitalism,” the Dalai Lama told AEI president Arthur Brooks Feb. 20 during a friendly panel discussion on “happiness, free enterprise, and human flourishing.”
The president forced the Dalai Lama to pay a price for the United States’ tepid and cautious support for the Tibetans’ culture.
That price was the Dalai Lama’s public agreement that the U.S. isn’t going to support Tibetan political independence from China.
“The President reiterated the U.S. position that Tibet is part of the People’s Republic of China and that the United States does not support Tibet independence,” said the statement.“The Dalai Lama stated that he is not seeking independence for Tibet and hopes that dialogue between his representatives and the Chinese government will resume.”

The daili lama claims he is a Marxist not a Lenninist
This AEI and Obama reception puzzles me.
Obama interferes with countries all around the world to further expand the islamoNazi empire or caliphate — all the worst anti-American , anti-Christian elements. But he’s also a commie ( and the Dali Lana’s not Muslim) so-— Tibet, right or wrong, can go to hell.
Dalai Lama knows how fickle the United States foreign policy is. He’ll wait out the pig in the White Hut.
So many people were HORRIFIED when the Chinese forced themselves into Tibet...and I am NO fan of the Commie Chinese but EVEN THEY are better for the Tibetans than their own worthless, useless leadership and government.
Now that I think of it, it’s been a very long time since I saw a leftwinger with the formerly-ubiquitous “Free Tibet” bumper sticker.
This Dalai Lama guy was anointed to his title when he was about 5 and when things got hot in his country he split and has been living high on handouts from morons ever since. He needs to get a job. Bum
My read is that the daili lama is a pragmatist: WHATEVER is going to keep his almost hopeless, poverty-stricken, pitiful band of people, FOREVER stuck in the 14th century. Well, maybe not THAT modern.
That would have meant some kind of principle, at least. But alas, undiscriminating Sinophilia won the day.

I the the lama guy was a darling of the left.
So, I’m on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one — big hitter, the Lama — long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice, right at the base of this glacier. And do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga...gunga — gunga galunga.
1. He should suggest that the USA stay out of Tibet's business, out of their country and not send them ONE penny. LEAVE THEM ALONE. That would be a money suck to end all money sucks.
The Tibetans are STILL in the 14th century. That kind of backwardness should be left alone until THEY decide to join the 21st century. They might NEVER decide that either. LEAVE THEM ALONE.
2. I sure hope you're right. The Chinese aren't STUPID. THEY know what a fruitless, futile task that would be. The Tibetans are WAY, way, way, way too backward.
