Local governments, community colleges and other public employers are cutting work hours among part-time employees to prepare for coming mandates under Obamacare, according to the New York Times.
President Obama twice has delayed the laws employer mandate, which will require large employers to provide health insurance or pay fines. It starts in 2016 for midsize employers and will phase in starting in 2015 for employers of 100 workers or more.
But public sector employers are trimming back work hours now, because their obligations will be based on data from this year, the Times reported.

Good.
Anyone who thinks this comes as a “unexpected” result
of Obamacare is not paying attention.
These are the rusults this administration WANTS.
Helluva way to cut government. Destroy the economy and the constitution and liberty all at the same time. The USA becomes the USSA overnight.
All planned from the begining, this is how they kill the middleclass and bring us down to the poverty level and dependecy.The middleclass pays the bills what will they do when they run out of our money
Like she said, “We have to pass it — before the American people find out what’s in it.”
I hope that sometime in the future, that the history of the beginnings of the Second American Republic were found in the unconstitutional power grab incorporated in the Affordable Care Act and the nation wide backlash of the American People against the Federal Government and it’s multitudinous agencies.
40 hrs * $7.25 == $290
29 hrs * $10.10 == $292.90
it’s like magic! same weekly pay, less work.
almost like a no-show job.... the Chicago way
More time to spend with family and watch reality tv.
I assume the employees are thrilled and sending their thanks to Caliph Baraq.
Since we moved in October, finding full time work has been a struggle for me, but I did manage to land a part time job. From the the interview, to every “meeting” with my supervisor I make sure to mention that I want a full time position if one comes available or even another part time position to go with the one I have. I get the same response from her EVERY time... “We cannot give you more hours or allow you to work a second part time job here because if you hit 30 hours we would then, by law, have to offer you health insurance and there is no money in the budget for that.” On another occasion when the subject came up about 30 hours being the new “full time”... she said to me “Overhead at 40 hours isn’t that big a difference from 30 hours so if we have to pay benefits anyway, there will be no 30 hour weeks, only 25 hours part time or 40 full time. So, I for one can attest, this stuff is going on no matter how the Dems try to spin and deny it.
Good!
Oh, I forgot. Government is never subject to its own laws.
some day soon it will finally dawn on people that Obamacare is about the French 30 hour work week
Lazy lefties have salivated over a shorter work week for years.

Precisely why the Marxists are arguing for a minimum wage increase.
So,,,,all that stimulus money they spent to keep “Vital” government workers employed is now simply pi$$ed away
This going to come back and bite The One where it hurts. It just may take awhile. Its not a matter of if but when.
Thats an astute observation. The minimum wage increase being proposed now takes on more meaning. Now he can tell his voting segment that he got them the same amount of pay for less hours worked.
What that doesn’t take into account is how much it will make the price of sevices and goods go up across the board and take away the increase in pay they received.
But this is better for people, right? Now they have more time to pursue their true interests.

One FReeper astutely pointed out that this is not to reduce the workweek to 29 hours; instead, it will force people to work two 29-hour jobs to make ends meet. Instead of 29, they’ll get 58 hours of work. Many have been reduced to Asian peasants.
