Kerry Kennedy may agree to a plea deal over driving while drugged charges stemming from a 2012 accident so she can continue her extensive human rights work.
Kennedy, 54, is afraid a conviction would bring with it restrictions that would curtail her international travels she has visited several dozen countries on humanitarian missions.
The plea deal was previously discussed between her legal team and prosecutors before being shelved, but her attorneys have brought it back to the table with her trial slated to start Monday, according to the New York Daily News.
Lawyers originally tabled the deal while preparing a defense explaining former Senator Robert F Kennedys daughter took Ambien by mistake she meant to take thyroid medication, sources told the paper.
Our defense in this case is that Kerry Kennedy did not knowingly and intentionally ingest those sleeping pills, her lawyer explained Friday in court.
The pills are very similar, he added. She took what she thought was her thyroid medication.
The former wife of current New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Kennedy was travelling between the Western Sahara and Brussels, Belgium during last weeks jury selection process, sources said.
Kennedy faces a misdemeanor charge of driving while impaired by drugs after colliding July 13, 2012 with a tractor trailer on a suburban New York highway, authorities said.

Thanks for pointing this out. For anyone who doesn't know what Western Sahara is look it up. It is one of the most bizarre places on earth. There is a dirt mound that runs the length of the country with one side aligned with Morocco and the other nominally aligned with Algeria and some roaming tribes. It has no central government and a permanent UN Peacekeeping force that wanders back and forth around the dirt wall. One of the most ridiculous situations in the world.
It would be a great place to drop off the whole Kennedy clan.
That looks like what I’d get if I just dumped out all my different vitamins and minerals, instead of sorting them into a 7-day compartmented container.
Why, yes ... yes it would! They'd fit right in.
Humanitarian work? LOL! “I gave some bum a Swiss France the last time I was in Monaco”. When will a judge finally say “Enough” with these slimeballs, give her an ankle bracelet and confine her to the U.S. for a year?
YOU KENNEDYS ARE ALL ALIKE!
Ugliness runs in the Kennedy family. It also runs in Cuomo’s family. She won’t do a day in jail and will get off with a slap on the wrist. Apparently, she was banging everyone but Cuomo when she was married to him. The Kennedys—the original, Irish white trash family.
Thanks afraidfortherepublic.
Obviously she used to sleep with the wrong NY politician.

That’s the smart way to do it. A little more effort on the front end, but it pays-off.
If I had to deal with all the individual bottles each morning, I wouldn’t bother to take them half the time. Then I’d be anemic, among other things.
When are we going to see the last of this disgraceful family? They have given the decent Irish a undeserved bad name for more than half a century.
All generic zolpidem I've seen comes in the oblong pill form.
She didn’t knowingly leave the scene of an accident, didn’t knowingly, didn’t...
The Kennedy legacy is ever tarnished. That IS the legacy.
Driving a car at less than 0.09 BAC (possibly even less than 0.05) and NOT getting into an accident is a misdemeanor charge.
How is driving under the influence of pills, hitting someone, and leaving the scene only a misdemeanor?

Geraldo’s whole show today, still ongoing, is about how all the Kennedy’s are being targeted for being a Kennedy. How nobody stands up in the media for them. Nauseating. I’m waiting for one caller to set him straight.
