Yes, I suppose that might be true. Democrats certainly picked this not-ObamaCare battle strategically, seeing as majority of Americans do like at least the idea of a minimum-wage hike on the federal level. Its really just so good of the Democrats to mercilessly exploit that economic populism with more intellectually bankrupt lies about the ostensible benefits of mandating employers to pay all of their workers a certain arbitrary wage instead of doing the harder thing, like Republicans, and campaigning to make sure that Americans dont get screwed in the process. They come walk in the door, we would like you to sign this and Peter King is waiting for them. Peter King, does he want to have to sign that? He doesnt want to not sign it. Pat Meehan, Mike Fitzpatrick, Gerlach, these other guys, theyre going to say, Wait a minute, if I dont sign this, then theyll be able to go out and announce the Democrats that I, representing a lot of working, middle class families that Ive said no to minimum wage. I think its a great way to screw the other side into doing something you want them to do. And its a win-win, because if they dont do it, you kill them in November.
There are a hundred ways to respond to Matthew’s stupidity....the republicans can ‘t seem to figure out even one !
That’s what I hate about communists like Matthews. They’re always ready to spend OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY! Lowlifes.
The GOP-e is on his side after all.
The poor working stiff then gets more take-home money and Hollywood pays for it!
A win-win for Republicans!
Yes, the minimum wage hike benefits the unions who will pour that increased dues money into the campaign war chests of their failed DemonRAT politicians. The American unions have done more damage to this country by backing the Communist scum DemonRATs. Whatever good they have done for the workers is to put a sugar coating to the poison pill to Capitalism they have created.
No, the best counter move would be to pass an increase in the minimum wage to $75. per hour and send it to the Senate. They would never take up the bill and the Republicans can turn the Democrats into the party that hates the poor!
To Chris Matthews:Planet Uranus is calling you, they want your brain and tingly legs back.
Matthews is one of those rare people who are so radical that they have become weird. I remember him being on “Jeopardy” and along with proving he was not very smart he came across as a real jackass. I suppose that is the only way he can come across.
Just double everyone in journalism’s tax rates to pay for it and they’ll be screaming bloody murder.
$25 per hour is around $50,000 per year. That would be an easy counter-offer to make the libs gulp deeply.
ok increase the minimum wage and do away with earned income credit....food stamps, welfare, Obama phones, school meals etc...make em work for a change...
After all that's the reason to go to Wash. D.C. isn't it?
What an arrogant elitist douche bag you are, Chrissie.
You want to make the amount absurd. Almost as absurd as a minimum wage in a free society. What right does the government have in telling me that I can not sell my labor below a certain price. Too many low info voters would not find $50K a year absurd. $150K a year is absurd to even the dumbest Obama voter.
The conservative base is getting tired of getting spit-roasted.
People who work full time jobs of any kind usually would not qualify for much of those programs. Those are reserved for the part timers who are forced to work a certain amount of time to remain qualified for these programs.
How about putting price controls on big democrat doner products so that the poor can buy them. I need a new GE refrigerator. Or a GM pickup with a Duramax diesel.
Its not fair that those union auto workers make 48 bucks an hour.
they should make 15 per hr just because its not fair and it makes me feel bad.
Lets play the class envy game against these guys.
