POMONA, Calif.
A teacher in Southern California has been placed on administrative leave after being accused of forcing a student to eat food from a trash can.
The incident was reported on Wednesday at Alcott Elementary School in Pomona. 10-year-old Gilbert Lopez said after he threw his lunch away, his teacher asked him to pull his sandwich out of the garbage and finish eating it.

Only masochists live in Kalifornication.
Sounds like George from an old Seinfeld episode.
To get union support, he needed to have raped the boy.
You will think what we tell you to think. You will eat what we tell you to eat.
The nuns made me eat a ham sandwich that I had thrown in the trash. I had to eat it in front of the class. Nearly fifty years ago and I have never forgotten how I felt that day.
NO NO NO!!! I realize you’re an E-school grad, so I’ll try to keep this simple. It’s only METAPHORICAL garbage the NEA wants you to feed your students. Communist tripe, the fish bones of collectivism, etc. NOT LITERAL FOOD WASTE. Got it? Carry on, and thanks for saving our landfills! Honest mistake.
The Mr Robinson you thank in your bio for “freerepublic”
is one of those masochists in “Kalifornication”. Just sayin’.
You could probably make some pretty good hooch, and good amounts of it, from all the fruit kids toss.
There should be enough sugar in carrots to make some pretty good moonshine
I can seriously see the nuns making us eat our lunch that our mothers packed and no one batted an eyelash....
so a teacher going the extra mile trying to ensure the nutrition of a school kid is now on leave?.....
My father used to insist I eat what was served for the meal.
I understand his motivation, if not his method.
Whenever there’s a story about a teacher doing something crazy like this, I hold judgement. It would be nice to know the interactions between this child and teacher that led up to such a level of frustration.
Maybe parents should tell their kids that if a teacher or administrator demands that they do something like that they have their permission to tell him/her/it where to go,and they’ll back them all the way.
Jim would probably be the first to tell you he has a streak in him....
(I think it’s why he’s tolerated me for as long as he has :^)
parents are sheep these days too though
Zackly. Headline is misleading at best. If it had been a Twinkie that fell on the pukeaterial floor, you can bet the kid would have eaten it.
There is nothing a child could do or say to justify this
Yes—but did you ever throw your lunch in the trash again? That’s the BIG question—LOL!
Could be worse.
Could have made them eat what Moochelle is serving.
Did they tell you about the poor starving children in Pakistan while they made you eat it?
