So how about this simple 2014 campaign idea: The Republicans, as a party, tell the voters that if they keep the House and recapture the Senate, they will immediately push for a three-year moratorium on Obamacare. On all of it: The mandates. The time extensions. The taxes. The regulations. The job losses. The reductions in hours worked. The part-time hiring. The website. The potential taxpayer bailout of insurance companies. The verification of income. The lack of personal security and threat of ID theft. And the whole wet blanket that Obamacare has thrown over the economy and the health-care system. The GOP should simply say, Elect us and we will put a three-year moratorium on all of Obamacare. And then well go back to the drawing board, bringing in Republicans and Democrats, and figure out a better plan.

A real American candidate would promise to go to Washington with an oak stake with which to kill ObamaCare.
Kill the Beastly Bill!
A permanent moratorium is better than a 3-year one. Since apparently none of the goodies actually made into the bill and all the bad elements remain, why keep any of it?
The democrats want the moratorium more than anything. They are in the process of re-writing the history of Obamacare. By the time it collapses the LowFos will believe the Republicans wrote and passed Obamacare. Obama and the democrats were the only ones brave enough to stand up to the republicans foisting this terrible law. (Oh, you mean we can’t call it Obamacare anymore?). Just in time for 2016 there will be saint democrat to lead us out of the republican dark ages to the glorious workers’ paradise of single payer government universal healthcare.
NO! REPEAL...REPEAL...REPEAL!!! Let the free market do its job. The explosion of our economy after a full repeal would be mind boggling.
Really? . . . I’ll get my job and insurance back? Fat chance. I lost my job and insurance. The damage has been done, and not just to me . . . to millions of Americans.
You’re right. I don’t think a temporary reprieve would be enough for companies to regain confidence that the government isn’t going to go ahead and stick it to them. They need the specter of obamacare removed. Then they need to see a pro-business government in DC. That won’t happen until bammy is out.
If they could win a 3-year moratorium they could win full repeal. This is a stupid idea.
Obama set the precedent that president can arbitrarily suspend o care when he wants. these dummies will”push”, fir suspension . demoncrats play chess while our team plays checkers.
I think the expression “trying to get the toothpaste back in the tube” applies to this situation.
That unruly bill managed to stick its octopuslike arms into some matters that were mostly administrative, but will create chaos if arbitrarily withdrawn... like state Medicaid programs.
To moratorium the known trouble spots would be good, until we can figure out how to back the monster out in an orderly manner. Knee jerks are not helpful here.
Even Democrats are getting nervous at this, however. Because if a Democrat president can play such games, so could a GOP one.
That would only put everything and everyone - insurance companies, businesses, doctors/hospitals, etc, in limbo...everything would be at a stalemate.
It need to be KILLED - so everyone cAn start rebuilding before it’s everlastingly too late.
Just set it so that a vote will be required in three years to start it back up (or whatever the Repubs could come up with to replace ZeroCare). And they should "fix" healthcare by putting in place policies that help keep the costs down.
This is how the Dems do things. Look at the FCC debacle: they claim to be backing off, but you know it will come back in another form after all the hubbub dies down. They also claim it wasn't what their detractors claimed it was, but we all know the truth.
Get Dems to agree to a "moratorium" on ZeroCare and then never go back to it, replace it.
I have concluded Obama has retreated to a defensive position from where he is protected against the constant incoming fire.
He is awaiting the Supreme Court to kill the whole thing. Obama can then claim it wasn’t his fault........ the court did it.
That will be the outcome. The court will do it in.
Who has the authority to declare a moratorium?
A person familiar with the Constitution would say “Congress is the legislative branch of the gov’t; and the duty of passing bills, or declaring a moratorium would be exclusively a legislative duty”.
An idiot without any idea how gov’t is ran, would say “The President” - and that’s why Obama is usurping the Constitution. We have a country full of ignorant idiots.
Given the 3-yr moratorium, it's evident that costs will skyrocket -- the government is going to be shoveling money at the health insurers to cover their losses (not to mention funding the subsidies).
After those three years pass, the choice will be evident:
1. Either continue to shovel billions and billions annually...
2. Or raise taxes on everybody an insane amount.
The single-payer option will, of course, cost about the same -- which can only be addressed by the same kind of tax increase.
The only rational answer will be to carefully dismantle the system. The only objections will come from those who are getting it "free".
What good would that do? It’s like these temporary halts that Obama keeps conjuring out of thin air. Businesses (and individuals) are just going to hold what they got for the inevitable problems that will STILL come up from this craptastic law.
BOTTOM LINE: You can prepare for a kick to the balls all you like, but it’s still gonna hurt when it finally comes.
And here is where the “carefully” part comes in.
A one line repeal is going to precipitate chaos. A careful deconstruction will be required.
No it’s not like the thin air halts. It would be infinitely better rooted in rule of law.
