The Rivieras: California Sun I believe the Rivieras were another one-hit-wonder act. There was a group in the Fifties called the Rivieras that charted with Count Every Star in 1958, but I don't think they're the same.
I like this version (the girls are frisky in old Frisco!):

You’re correct. The Rivieras who recorded “Moonlight Cocktails” and the Rivieras who recorded “California Sun” were two completely different groups. They were also of completely different races.

Sadly, no - as a matter of fact I never mastered Mandarin. There were many opportunities there of which I failed to take advantage but others that I explored to great advantage in later life.
Taipei American School was not only the school Americans attended, but most of the Diplomatic Corps from many Nations as well as many of the upper-class Taiwanese and Mainlanders. Gen. Chennault's daughter was one of my classmates there. I'll never forget those days.

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

To get to Buena Park from Whittier in 1964, we would drive down Norwalk Blvd. through the oil fields of Santa Fe Springs—now long gone—to catch the Santa Ana Freeway in Norwalk. That freeway remained unchanged and unimproved for decades. By the twenty-first century,it was considered a Third World freeway. They are finally getting around to widening it.
In the summer of 1963, the condemned homes along the right-of-way of the San Gabriel River Freeway began to be demolished. By the fall of ‘64, the freeway was open between El Monte and Norwalk, and two years later, it was open all the way to the San Diego Freeway. Nowadays, it would take about 20 years to build such a freeway.

#7 The Rip Chords: Hey Little CobraThey could barely sing, couldnt play instruments, but producer Terry Melcher, son of Doris Day, got the Wrecking Crew to back them up. This was their one real success.

#53 Louis Armstrong: Hello, DollyLouie didnt want to record this number, but the label insisted, deciding to cash in on the success of the Carol Channing musical on Broadway. It was his biggest hit.
When Barbra Streisand sang along with Louie in the movie version in the late Sixties, it was the defining moment of the film.

Thats it for tonight. Tomorrow night, its the second part of 1964. Cue the Rockumentary theme!

WOOHOO!!! So glad you can stop coughing. *HUGS*
Coughing has driven me to the chiropractor more than once.
Now if I could just get my computer to stop acting up. I thought it was just that my mouse died...new battery didn’t help. Found a new mouse, but I can’t post. Seems my wireless has taken a hike. Try to reinstall, but screen freezes.
Now I’ve forced it to restart and wireless is there. Later tonight I’ll try the old mouse with its new battery and see if it’s really ok....just gremlins in the computer. Frustrating evening so far.
