Thomas Sowell has jumped the shark, sad.
So we must have endless and increasing debt or else we will lose? That is the defeat. That is national bankruptcy. We are bankrupt, and the Senate voted to make us more bankrupt.
There is no reason to believe that the GOP, if it takes the Senate, is going to reverse the debt trend. The GOP helped bankrupt us.
Cruz is not trying get power for the GOP. He is trying to save our nation, and that means fighting all the time, not hiding. There is no English Channel and Royal Navy to protect us from going deeper into bankruptcy.
My only problem with Cruz is he appears to support an interventionist foreign policy, which would also make us more bankrupt and throw more lives away.

This is politics, not war, not even litigation. Picking a side and vigourously advocating it, even if you KNOW you are going to lose, is not unusual at all, in politics.

BUT sometimes you NEED to fight those battles. I could argue there would not be a Ted Cruz without the losing Battle of the Alamo. A battle that did not have to be fought.
For a smart man, Thomas Sowell is making some pretty stupid assertions.

Cruz leads by example and is rallying the troops, us, while the chicken**** "leadership" leads by wringing their hands and sniveling and ATTACKING the TEA Party and Cruz!

I thought this guy “got it”... Guess not...
WE (the TEA party... or whatever you wanna call us) are at WAR with the PROGRESSIVES! not the democrat party... Fill the democrat party with libertarians and all of a sudden im voting for some democrats.
How do we WIN this war? There are OBJECTIVES we must meet.
1. Establish control of state republican parties with “fire eating” libertarian/constitutional conservatives.
2. Turn the state party infrastructure into a weapon against the progressives in the national GOP.
3. Dominate state governments with “Tea party” types. all branches of state government.
4. Turn those states into weapons against the progressive federal government and the progressive infrastructure in the state.
5. Elect “Ted Cruz” types to the federal government to stop the engine of the progressive agenda or slow it down by using every possible procedure and rule.
6. Identify and target the remaining progressives in the republican party (GOPe) (Ted is doing a FINE job of identifying the bastards) and eliminate them through the primary process if possible, the general election if necessary.
7. Once the GOP has been purged of progressives we will hold a solid defensible position to take the WAR to the progressives in the Democrat party like its never been done before.
8. Continue bludgeoning the fedgov with the states we own, continue throwing “bombs” into the guts of the fedgov with our increasing number of congressman and senators, destroy every progressive in the democrat party politically, professionally and personally... NO MERCY! NO PITY! NO REGRET!
Then we stand a chance of winning our freedom!

I agree up to a point. The important thing here is knowing what the battle is. Because of the media white wash of Communist Democrats, there are still people who are clueless that we are, in fact, in a war with communist infiltrators.
Part of the value of what Cruz is doing is to get the attention of low information voters that there is a war and it is close to being lost already. . . the real "battle" Cruz is fighting, the one of voter awareness, is one that we cannot afford to lose. If Cruz "loses" a "battle" on some issue that any reasonable human being thinks he should win hands down, it raises eyebrows, and he actually wins the "battle" for awareness of what the Communist Democrats are doing. It exposes them to the light of day. They will not be successful without deceit and stealth. THAT is the most important battle Cruz is fighting.
While I remain a BIG FAN of Ted Cruz,his facts are wrong.In all,about 350,000 British,French,(and some Polish)troops were “Rescued”during”The Miracle of Dunkirk”!Dunkirk represented the first of Hitler’s Major Military Blunders because The Germans could have prevented this had they been allowed to press home their assault.
At what point, Thomas, do we stop compromising, in the empty hope that tomorrow we’ll be stronger and better?
