(Reuters) - An Ohio man who rose to fame as "Joe the Plumber" by challenging then-presidential candidate Barack Obama on tax policy in 2008 has taken a unionized job with one of the U.S. Big Three automakers, he said on his website.
Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, a conservative, announced on Sunday that he recently had the "fortune of being hired by a great company", Chrysler Corporation, where all workers must be United Automobile Workers union members.

Beats welfare and starvation.
Yup. And of course, he would say that. They wouldn’t hire him otherwise.
The media will use this to attack Joe and conservatives, but it only illustrates how bad the economy is if Joe the Plumber has to get a union job a company that was bailed out by the government.
Imagine the reception he would have gotten by his coworkers the next day if he had dissed them...
Lots of conservatives have been forced into unions over the years. I was a union member but I was never a liberal.
The lefties are already all over this and making internet memes from it.
Never ever put your faith in a politician, or anybody who wants to be one. You will be disappointed.
And why shouldn’t they?
Exactly. You have to put food on the table.
I am not saying that they should not. I am simply saying that they are already making a fuss over it.
So is Joe screwing together Jeeps at the Toledo, Oh plant?
Understood. It was a rhetorical question. My point is why did the guy have to make a public announcement, anyway? He simply made himself a tool for the left. Nice going, Joe!
Spot on.
On the inside he can lead the good guys to overcome the thug bad guys
Defeating the union from inside is the best way to weakening it
I think Joe is gonna go in there and change a lot of peoples minds on what conservatism is.
There are a lot of union people who need to understand what their dues do for promoting gun control, abortion, etc.
Because if we don’t start getting some “blue collar Democrat” votes, we’re never gonna win many elections. The entitlement army grows daily.
Terry Bowman, head of the Union Conservatives is considering running for the seat John Dingell is currently decomposing in as a republican.
Bowman has nearly 20 years in the UAW and has testified on Capital hill against union political fundraising. He was also involved in approving the language of the RTW law in Michigan to make sure nothing was missed that would cause the courts to throw it out.
We’ve got to be engaged in the fight if we are to have the slightest chance of winning it. That means getting behind enemy lines and collecting allies.
Ya. Good point.
Ya. Good point.
