A candidate for Orange County Republican County chair was arrested for beating up a poll worker outside an early voting site Tuesday afternoon. 70-year-old Jerry Wilson was arrested for Class A misdemeanor assault and taken to the Orange County jail. Vidor Police Chief Dave Shows said the victim in the attack was bleeding. He had a bloody nose, and injuries around the eyes and head. Chief Shows said the disturbance started at the early voting poll at the Vidor community center off Interstate 10. The victim was working for another candidate. The argument apparently started with a confrontation about campaign signs being too close for the distance rules, 100 feet away from a poll. Wilson and the victim exchanged words. Shows said Wilson was arrested and taken to the county jail. He was allowed to take his wheeled-oxygen tank with him.

I noticed the "100 foot distance" signs at our regular voting place yesterday. They've been doing that here for the past several elections.

I was referring to candidate signs not allowed within 100 feet from the polling entrance. People bring their lawn signs to the polling place and stick them in the ground.
I would surely like to know more about the “victim” in this case.
