AUSTIN With early voting opening Tuesday, Feb 18, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn angrily attacked Ted Cruz in an interview with The Austin American Statesman, declaring Cruz bad for America and boasting I dont have any regret about voting to raise Obamas debt limit Feb. 12.
A testy Cornyn, speaking with the liberal newspaper last week, declared Cruzs opposition to raising Obamas debt limit bad for the economy, bad for the American people. Cornyn continued to attack Cruz, telling reporters he chose the ugly alternative when Cruz announced he would not support an increase in Obamas debt limit.
Cornyn faces conservative Republican U.S. Congressman Steve Stockman in the Republican primary. A Human Events poll released Monday shows Cornyn will not win the primary, and would face Stockman in a runoff. Early voting starts today.
In January, Cornyn also attacked Cruz in an interview with Texas Monthly, telling the magazine he had hoped he taught a lesson to Cruz by voting to kill his filibuster of Obamacare.
I hope well be less confrontational, said Cornyn, who voted with Democrats twice to fully fund Obamacare.
If 41 Republicans had stood together and just voted `no, the clean debt ceiling, the bank check President Obama and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi want, would have been denied, Cruz said on Marc Levins radio show Thursday night.
When asked by the paper if he was worried about angering Republicans by voting with Democrats again, Cornyn stated It was certainly an uncomfortable moment, but I dont have any regret about the decision. Cornyn told the paper that voting with Obama is a sign Republicans are capable of governing.

It would appear that our good Senator Ted has read his Sun Tzu and Clausewitz very well...
This is the closest (that I know of, to date) Sen Cruz has come to *endorsing* an Attorney General of TX candidate....Ken Paxton....

Great take!
and they did that in the state legislature under Straus, put D’s in charge of some committees for no good reason
Indeed. Ted is a Warrior.
That’s good enough for me!
In my book, any candidate has to pass the TED CRUZ test before I will support them.
Hence, Dan Patrick, David Dewhurst, George P. Bush and others may as well not even be on the ballot.
Thanks, Paxton is the guy I was thinking of.
My daughter voted yesterday. She got them all right! I’m proud of that young lady!
Check out this new Dwayne Stovall ad. It’s a hoot!
LOL!! Love the corporatist hog with the Rove tatt!!
My DD is voting early, today. She’ll get them all right, too. There’s much hope in the younger generation ;p
Cornyn=obama’s colostomy bag.
If Cornrow keeps this up, he’ll end up losing the general election if he somehow makes it past the primary.
LOL
That’s brutal!
“John Wayne McCornyn has proven himself to be a Spineless, Unprincipled, Back-Stabbing, Quisling that is not worthy of remaining in the Senate.”
Oh I do think he has a role, governing the Democratic party. He showed he is capable of this by leading the Dems to a victory over the GOP in the debt ceiling vote.
Then, by all means, he needs to jump ship and settle in on the Titanic.
I would sure like to know which “genius” at the NRA decided to endorse John Wayne McCornyn for re-election to the Senate. Sorry, but this is one endorsement that will NOT sway me even a little bit.
I like Jerry Patterson- former marine passed the concealed carry law while state senator. Really expanded vets programs in Texas and started program to preserve Texas historical maps under the care of the Land Commissioner.
Another Judge Smails moment...
