Freshman Senator Ted Cruz says many things that need to be said and says them well. Moreover, some of these things are what many, if not most, Americans believe wholeheartedly. Yet we need to remember that the same was true of another freshman Senator, just a relatively few years ago, who parlayed his ability to say things that resonated with the voters into two terms in the White House. Who would disagree that if you want your doctor, you should be able to keep your doctor? Who would disagree with the idea of a more transparent administration in Washington, or a President of the United States being a uniter instead of a divider?
There are many things like this that freshman Senator Barack Obama said that the overwhelming majority of Americans whether liberal or conservative would agree with. The only problem is that what he has actually done as President has repeatedly turned out to be the direct opposite of what he said as a candidate.
Senator Ted Cruz has not yet reached the point where he can make policy, rather than just make political trouble. But there are already disquieting signs that he is looking out for Ted Cruz even if that sets back the causes he claims to be serving.
Those causes are not being served when Senator Cruz undermines the election chances of the only political party that has any chance of undoing the disasters that Barack Obama has already inflicted on the nation and forestalling new disasters that are visible on the horizon.
ObamaCare is not just an issue about money or even an issue about something as important as medical care. ObamaCare represents a quantum leap in the power of the federal government over the private lives of individual Americans.

I have no problem identifying Ted Cruz with a John Adams or Benjamin Franklin.
Mitch McConnell and John Boehner, on the other hand, I'm trying to be charitable in comparing them to Phillippe Petain. Vidkun Quisling may, in fact, be more accurate.
One of the few times I’ve disagreed with the good Dr.
Let’s support Ted Cruz. Obama should not have been reelected but let’s fight the next battle, and I certainly hope the next candidate is a conservative candidate.
Sowell just warned, in starkly clear terms for an elite public persona, that Obama is on the Hitler trajectory.
I was one of the few freepers in 2012 who openly did not support Romney, although I did hold my tongue a lot of the time.
Is that Lindsey Grahmnesty at the very edge of the pic?
Thomas Sowell also preaches failed Free Trade ideas...not surprised he would support the GOPe over Cruz
Free Trade is a Liberal idea...and is supported by most of the Democrats in office. Sowell supports Free Trade. Lets stop the cheerleading of the Free Traders like Sowell
I couldn't disagree with the statement more.
Cruz could have 'followed the flow', 'doing business as usual' with the rest of GOP. What he did is in Sowell's opinion, 'making political trouble'?
And we come to the second point, since Cruz can not 'make policy', isn't it better for him to seek position that could 'make policy'?
P/S I am not totally sold on Cruz running for 2016 president, but I have to disagree with Dr. Sowell here.
As for the rest -- ?? What is he saying?
Mr. So well,I don’t care what Obama was saying when he ran for President,I did my own research and found out who he really was by what he had said an the people he associated with. The information was there for all to see,so what he said did not matter you could see he was faking it.
The same is for Ted Cruz,do the research on where he is from, who has he associated with, what he has said, what work has he done in his life, who are his parents, what is their history, don’t tell me at this point that Ted Cruz is somehow a negative for the party,he has been right all the things being done on Obamacare he stood and said needed to be done.He was the right one,all the rest are wrong, including you
“For the first time, I am confused as to what Sowell is trying to say.... ?? What is he saying?”
*********************************************************************
It’s not so much WHAT he is saying as it is WHY he is saying it. My take is that a major donor to the Hoover Institute (HI) has gotten to the HI and has demanded that the HI begin attacking Ted Cruz. It’s always amazing to me how far the tentacles of corruption can extend.
The GOPe MIGHTILY fears Ted Cruz because he stands for and is EFFECTIVELY fighting for the survival of the American Republic. And Cruz’ success is frightening those shallow creatures.
I wish my hero Thomas Sowell, whom I hold in the highest political regard of all men living, top spot, would speak out as forcefully against functional Democrats like Romney not only fraudulently taking the mantle "Republican," but being legitimized by party leadership instead of being kicked out on his ass for the phony he is. THAT is the problem. THAT is the dynamic forcing the 37% split.
I agree- but don’t forget Rand Paul.
I think that we're past that point in medicine- Doctors are quitting/retiring in droves, and they are irreplaceable. Just who the hell is going to consider becoming a doctor now?
I always try to forget Rand Paul. lol
Good one!
