The guys doing last minute wrenching before the start of the 2000-mile long Iron Dog race tomorrow! And taking a break to "fuel up" on (the usual) moose chili and blueberry pie.
Hi! For anyone interested, this is Todd and Tyler from Iron Dog Team #11 writing from Sarahs Facebook page.
Disappointed on the trail today, but keeping everything in perspective. Due to a rare mechanical issue that was impossible to fix on the trail, well be cheering on the other teams the rest of the race. Ive been enjoying this endurance race for decades now, and you never can tell how its going to turn out for any team. Theres always inexplicable circumstances arising and you never know what mother nature will challenge you with out there. But its always rewarding and worth the effort.
This race, like everything else in life, is a gamble. Our advice is to find your passion, dont procrastinate, and just do it! This isn't a dress rehearsal. It doesnt matter how many times you get knocked down, what matters is how many times you get back up. As Sarah likes to say, live life vibrantly! Having the freedom to tackle challenges like this is what makes America amazing.
Were incredibly grateful for all the supporters that make the world's ultimate snowmachine race happen every year. It wouldnt be possible without our rural communities that connect the trail, celebrate this event, and cheer on every participant. You keep us going, bush Alaska! Youre our foundation! Thank you so much for all you guys do.
Keep the other racers in your prayers.
Also, thanks so much for pledging in the fund raiser to fight breast cancer with the awesome Bring Home the Pink campaign. You can still support the Ski-Doo teams involved in this great cause by pledging here: http://www.gofundme.com/67f7gs

Oh, too bad.
‘...find your passion, dont procrastinate, and just do it!’.
It was very sad watching team 11 on GPS yesterday. Iron Dog was saying they’d tow to Big Lake, repair, and be back. There appeared to be no rush to leave Skwentna, which was a big clue as to what was going to happen - at that point, the guys were two days behind the field and going on didn’t make sense. When they did start towing, 11a (Todd) got to the Susitna River and went straight up and over to Wasilla ..... obviously going “home”. Looking forward to seeing Todd/Tyler back at it next year!
Regardless of Team 11 having to scratch, it’s still quite a race going on .... the first couple of teams are all experienced Iron Doggers .... racing really close in time so it will be a big scramble for the halfway money in Nome! After that, the race for the finish should be exciting as well.
Hubba-hubba!
Yeah ... very disappointing.
Someone needs to show Todd how to iron the bugs out BEFORE the race! :o)
.
So unfortunate, I’m sure he is disappointed.
I came across this late last night and was so upset for them!
Oh No!
Terrible News.
My G-d Bless them anyway. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise.
Opps! Ping to post 129 for you too O:-)
Thank you for the updates on this wonderful family..
Bummer!! That’s too bad, maybe it’s just meant to be.
Getting to see pics of Todd...oh, and his mom and Sarah’s parents, almost make up for it, though ;-)
Awww, that is precious
That video of Trig is absolutely adorable. Go, Daddy!! Growing up fast.
I’m still wiping tears of joy from my eyes. I’m so happy for our dearest Sarah Palin and her entire precious family!
