I predicted that a long, long time ago. All they needed was for a couple of states to pass gay marriage provisions. Then, the FED could use those and force acceptance in the remaining states.

Basically, Obama already did that by approving same-sex marriage benefits for FED employees in the various states.

States now would have a difficult argument in denying same-sex benefits to other state residents, as states would face a multitude of discrimination lawsuits.
