In todays troubled economy, one would expect a low-income neighborhood would welcome a discount grocery store in their midst. Not only would it provide cheaper food closer to home, but it would also provide jobs for some of the areas residents. But thats just what the black residents of Portland, Oregon dont want. Portland Development Commission is trying to help improve the community that is known as the Interstate Corridor urban area which is predominantly black. In their efforts to help, they recently approved the sale of a vacant piece of land to Majestic Realty for just $502,160 for the purpose of building a Trader Joes store on the lot. The property is worth $2.9 million, but the city believed the $2.4 million discount was worth it to bring in the discount store and jobs into an area they are trying to help renew. Trader Joes even awarded the construction contract to a minority owned construction company. Instead of being thankful for the citys effort to bring the discount retailer and jobs to their community, the citys blacks are up in arms over the project. The Portland African American Leadership Forum sent a scathing email to Portland Mayor Charlie Hays and the city commissioners telling them they didnt want Trader Joes in their neighborhood. Why? In their email they stated one of the reasons as: A new Trader Joes will increase the desirability of the neighborhood to non-oppressed populations
Goodness, we cant have the neighborhood become more desirable to others can we. We cant have non-oppressed people spending their money in their neighborhood which would support jobs for the locally oppressed people who desperately need work.

50 years ago, they were campaigning to end segregation, now the Democrats have them so turned around they are rallying to maintain it.
Just one more example of why this particular minority always seems to miss the bus which takes one to a higher level of society, in fact, it’s the ONLY minority which never makes progress.
The blad “leadership” had taken lessons from Jesse J and Al S and demanded shakedowns from Trader Joes before they’d allow the store to build. Like, Trader Joe’s should build low income housing for these poor oppressed folks as well as feed them. Trader Joe’s walked away as they should have.
That’s my first thought. And I’ll bet if you dig into who’s who I that group, ya might find a little anti-semitism.
Just sayin...
The community agitators of Blackistan probably see the sale of that acreage as a loss of space for crack sales, trash dumping and drive-by shootings.
Portland at one time was a nice city... but like most in America, with the combination of corruption, identity politics and breakdown of the family structure, it’s become a psychotic mess.
IOW - some of the low-info idjits and the kids will be exposed to a saner and more rational slice of the population and realize that all the hate and victim-hood crap is just a sign of how sick the "oppressed" population has become.

Is Trader Joe’s a discount emporium? I think of it as exotica. They seem to sell stuff others don’t.
