That 50,000 figure could be as little as 15 percent of the rifles classified as assault weapons owned by Connecticut residents…

Perhaps CT isn't as far gone as previously thought.

This technique worked in Canada.

So many people refused to register their guns that the government just gave up.

My total praise to the real patriots who courageously refused to comply with this unconstitutional horror.

***Oops: Thousands of Connecticutans are now criminals in possession of unregistered “assault” weapons***

Criminals are not required to register their firearms. It is a violation of their 5th Amendment rights.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haynes_v._United_States

“The original Haynes decision continues to block state prosecutions of criminals who fail to register guns as required by various state law gun registration schemes.”

I think a lot of folks in CT will be oiling their guns, and buying water-proof containers.

“I honestly thought from my own standpoint that the vast majority would register,” said Sen. Tony Guglielmo, R-Stafford, the ranking GOP senator on the legislature’s public safety committee. “If you pass laws that people have no respect for and they don’t follow them, then you have a real problem.”

Decried the kulak.

Michael Cannon in a House Judiciary committee hearing said:

“That is certainly something that no one wants to contemplate. If the people come to believe that the government is no longer constrained by the laws, then they will conclude that neither are they.”

Cannon said it is “very dangerous” for the president to “wantonly ignore the laws, to try to impose obligations upon people that the legislature did not approve.”

No more or less illegal than the president and his recent lawless actions.

Law has no meaning.

If law is what he says, then law is what we say.

He is no better than any of us.

"Connecticutans"

I always wondered what people from Connecticut called themselves. Sheesh...I can't even pronounce it.

Good on the 85% for refusing to obey their government's gun registration law. That's some real Yankee Spirit there.

“If you pass laws that people have no respect for and they don’t follow them, then you have a real problem.”

Heh. He's smarter than he looks! Course he thinks the problem is with the citizens rather than the legislators, so he's a little off, but still.

the most conservative estimates place the number of unregistered assault weapons well above 50,000, and perhaps as high as 350,000

Based on what?
