People misunderstood New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo when he said conservatives “have no place in the state of New York,” the Democratic governor explained Wednesday.
“I was not saying anyone should leave the state, right? And anyone who heard the comments knows that’s not what I was saying,” Cuomo said when asked about his comments at a press conference. “To the extent people want to have a political dialogue, that’s what it is.”
Cuomo came under fire from conservatives last month when he said “extreme conservatives, who are right-to-life, pro-assault weapon, anti-gay … have no place in the state of New York.”
Conservative talker Sean Hannity even threatened to leave the state over the comments.
“Gov. Cuomo, I’m going to leave and I’m taking all of my money with me – every single solitary penny,” Hannity said on his radio show in January. “And by the way governor, because I work here – there’s a whole bunch of people that work for me and benefit because I do two shows. And I guess maybe some of them will be out of work, governor. I’m sure you’ll take care of them.”(continued)

He said what he said. If he objects that much to people drawing reasonable inferences from what he said, maybe he shouldn’t have said it in the first place.

I can’t help but be reminded of the district manager I worked under back in 1980. I was one of 83 tech reps in his district and he actually sent out a memo about errors on paperwork saying that if any one man accounted for one percent or more of all the errors in the district he could be fired. I pointed out that if each one of the 83 only made one error in a month all of them would need to be fired. He then came back and said that we should not take everything so seriously! He threatened to fire people and then when he realized he had been a fool he could not admit it, he tried to push it off on the people he had threatened.
Besides all the other usual leftist reasons, this might be another one that they’re working all kinds of angles to get money away from conservatives and people on the right, to redistribute to their leftist constituents. As long as conservatives have any wealth and are amongst rhe most productive segment of society, they can’t yet totally dismiss us. That bothers them a lot, to understate it.
All the productive and mentally healthy contributing, decent, members of society will leave, then he’ll have to come up with some new extortionist racket, and try to federalise it, to support his remaining parasite constituents.

That worries me too. Even the ones, for example, who don’t want their weapons confiscated, may carry the union virus. Or they may oppose high taxes, but be all for abortion or the watermelon agenda (green on the outside, red on the inside).

He’d be very stupid to not see this backtracking for what it is, but Hannity sometimes misses the obvious when it comes to the left or leftist-ish speech (as with RINOs).

A very leftist trait. Hussein is famous for saying he didn’t say what he said. Conservatives never get off the hook that easily for “misspeaking”.

I saw him on TV after Sandy Hook making the big push for his “SAFE Act”. He was screaming like an insane person. Really—it was the closest I’ve seen someone come to Joseph Goebbels when he denounced the Jews in Nazi Germany. It actually disturbed me quite a bit.
Heck no! Conservatives can be pilloried for misspeaking when they didn’t.
Although Leno also praised their unionism. We don’t need that mess in the conservative areas, for sure.
