How The GOP Plans To Crush The Tea Party Revolt
talkingpointsmemo.com ^ | 2/11/14 | Daniel Strauss

After House Republicans conceded on Tuesday that they would bring a debt ceiling bill to the floor for a vote without attaching policy concessions, the tea party seemed in open revolt, calling for the replacement of Speaker John Boehner (R-OH). Meanwhile, incumbent Republican senators have quietly been working behind the scenes to cut off their funding sources.

"I've been told by a number of donors to our 'super PAC' that they've received calls from senior Republican senators," FreedomWorks President and CEO Matt Kibbe told The New York Times. Those donors would then say to FreedomWorks, per Kibbe, that "'I can't give to you because I've been told I won't have access to Republican leadership.'"

It was a sentiment echoed by The Madison Project's policy director Daniel Horowitz to TPM on Tuesday: "It’s almost as if McConnell and his allies are acting like the IRS with intimidation."

When asked if they'd experienced a similar phenomenon to FredomWorks, Horowitz replied, "I'm sure they tried. Our model never relied upon big donors who are well connected to the D.C. political establishment."

Conservative groups have thrown a lot at the establishment in return. On Tuesday, after every single attempt to exact policy concessions from Democrats over the debt ceiling, conservative groups Club For Growth and the Senate Conservatives Fund immediately rallied their supporters.

"These leaders have telegraphed weakness to the Democrats and sabotaged conservative efforts so many times that Republicans now have no leverage. There's only one solution," SCF Executive Director Matt Hoskins wrote in an email to supporters. "John Boehner must be replaced as Speaker of the House."

The power that the Tea Party gave to John Boehner and the House leadership, they have completely ceded to the democrats...intentionally!

We need to strike the first blow against these people in Texas on March 4th by forcing the minority whip of the Senate into a runoff! Early voting in Texas begins next Tuesday.

That is where we can begin to topple the establishment leadership!

“We need to strike the first blow against these people in Texas on March 4th by forcing the minority whip of the Senate into a runoff!”

Am all in.

Cornyn has been fooling us for years. Only when we got Ted did we see what a true conservative should look like.

We need to primary him out.

Give to Stovall or Stockman tehn vote.

Makes no diff.

If Cornyn has to get to runoff, he will be Cruz’d

Republican Leadership can browbeat PACs, contributors, lobbyists, businesses and the like, but they CANNOT browbeat true conservatives. They are risking total defeat and humiliation in November.

As of right now, there is not ONE Republican that I am going to vote for. That includes my own Congressman (Collins), and it includes any GOP, RNC or Chambliss-endorsed candidate for Senator. I’ll vote for a Democrat before I give these traitors any more sanction. They want ‘scorched earth’, they got it.

Exactly correct. Right along with Eric Cantor, Paul Ryan and the rest of Boehner's Enablers.

I'm at the point that if Boehner, Ryan and Cantor don't get primaried, it'll be time to vote for their Democrat opponent as the last ditch effort to remove these RINO's from office.

The tea party presents a major threat to both parties and the whole structure of cronyism they’ve built.

Why does the GOP hate the Tea Party?

Because the stupid bastards forgot who they work for, and they're drunk with power. They'll do ANYTHING to keep their power and stature.

That's what it's all about: Power, Money, Control

Exactly my question also! Is it money?

Fundraiser for one R candidate called for money. I asked, “Does he embrace the Tea Party?”

Caller said she didn’t know. I said, “Well, when y’all find out what you’re doing, call me back.”

Because the GOP loves spending our money as much as the democrats do.

They can’t crush us. We are not an identifiable party. We are everywhere. We are your average patriotic everyday Americans and we are growing in numbers.

“Why does the GOP hate the Tea Party?”

The republican establishment has always hated conservatives. This goes back a long way, to Hoover and Coolidge, Taft and Willkie, Taft and Dewey, Taft and Eisenhower, Nixon and Goldwater, Goldwater and Rockefeller, Reagan and Ford, Reagan and Bush, Bush and Buchanan, etc.

We are a threat to their power. And they do everything possible to make us angry in order to push us out. They forced Dole upon us, they achieve very close victories in 2000 and 2004, they initiate “power-sharing” agreements, they forced McCain upon us, they forced Romney upon us, they want to force Amnesty upon us, they increase the debt right in our faces.

They willfully work to tamp down any conservatives enthusiasm. Intentionally.

If one million Tea Partiers donated $200 each, that would outstrip anything the GOPe and Chamber of Commerce could raise.

After Boehner's cave yesterday, it's time to "cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war."

These people have been calling me at all hours, begging for money. I told them they will not get a thing from me any more; they don’t represent me, and I will only give directly to the candidates that share my values, and the Senate Conservative PAC.

They actually argued with me that I couldn’t do that.

I demanded to be taken off their phone list. Two weeks so far and they haven’t called back.

The only good thing about the super polarizing effect of the openly leftist O’bastard administration (and MSM) is it has completely ripped off the fake conservative veneer of the GOPe “leadership”.
