The House of Representatives, by a narrow margin, on Tuesday passed clean legislation raising the government's borrowing authority for one year in order to avoid a default that was looming at the end of this month.
By a vote of 221-201, the House passed the bill, adhering to President Barack Obama's demand that it have no unrelated conditions attached. With House passage, the bill now goes to the Senate, where debate could begin on Wednesday.
Only 28 of the House's 232 Republicans voted for the measure, leaving Democrats to provide most of the votes for passage.
Republican Speaker John Boehner allowed the vote, ignoring factions of his party that called for tying the measure to defunding of Obamacare and including benefits for military retirees.
Boehner acknowledged before the vote that Democrats would need to back the measure, which would get minimal Republican support.
"Well let the Democrats put the votes up," Boehner said, adding that he had spoken to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California, who told him there will be enough Democratic support to pass the measure.

It appears on second look that they intentionally named the Bill erroneously. Hat tip to therightscoop.com for picking up on it.
The Note on the Bill Summary page states, ‘Note: The measure is expected to be a vehicle to extend the public debt limit and repeal a reduction in the cost-of-living adjustment for military retirees.’

Pete Sessions is being challenged by a TEA conservative, cut from the same cloth as Ted Cruz.

She’s already been endorsed by two TEA/conservative groups.
Twenty-eight cowardly turncoats lacking in any core principles. You’ll want to keep your eye on Doc Hastings (R - WA - 4th District), as he’ll be your new circus clown after the move. He was one of the 28, and that’s no surprise.
Did you sign the Senate Conservative Fund’s petition? I don’t know that such things ever make a difference, but at least it can’t hurt.

Note former comment:
I heard Stuart Varney on Fox News this AM stating the same thing, that Boehner is keeping Obama from being able to blame the Republicans for not having enough money to pay bills, and that Boehner is giving Obama borrowing power until March, 2015....that keeps the focus on OBAMA and Obama Care, who is the issue!
THE WHINING CROWD here at FR are wrong about this particular issue, the strategy is good by Boehner, even if it costs money, if it can help win the Senate and keep the House, by making Obama Care and Obama the problem in November, 2014. The funding can then be cut off in right places.
Like the guy who posted this, and refers to some other whining crowd here at FR.
I just don’t understand the thought process here.
First off, there’s not going to be not enough money to not pay the bills. That a BS lie, and anyone saying such or alluding to such is a BS liar, Speaker Boner.
Secondly, is this how a game is won? You let the opposing team score 100 touch downs on you and while everyone is focusing on how much they are kicking your ass you beat them with a Hail Mary...
Someone’s math is off by a mile.
Lastly, let’s count the number of expertly planned strategic tactical victories the GOP has over its so called opponents.
What is zero, Alex?
People are going to lose their country real soon, and the reason they are going to lose their country is because they are stupid fools.
Voting for "the lesser of two evils" is just stupid; it's crap like that that got Romney foisted on us, even though he's merely Obama's political clone.
Strapping watches to a baseball-bat giving you awesome time powers
makes more sense:
… see?
A proven failure, but the uninformed Republican electorate does not know that and probably never will.
“Stupid fools” is too lenient for the American people; they are as clueless as a box of rocks.
Have to agree.
I don’t know what happened, but it ain’t pretty ;/
