The House of Representatives, by a narrow margin, on Tuesday passed clean legislation raising the government's borrowing authority for one year in order to avoid a default that was looming at the end of this month.
By a vote of 221-201, the House passed the bill, adhering to President Barack Obama's demand that it have no unrelated conditions attached. With House passage, the bill now goes to the Senate, where debate could begin on Wednesday.
Only 28 of the House's 232 Republicans voted for the measure, leaving Democrats to provide most of the votes for passage.
Republican Speaker John Boehner allowed the vote, ignoring factions of his party that called for tying the measure to defunding of Obamacare and including benefits for military retirees.
Boehner acknowledged before the vote that Democrats would need to back the measure, which would get minimal Republican support.
"Well let the Democrats put the votes up," Boehner said, adding that he had spoken to Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California, who told him there will be enough Democratic support to pass the measure.

The time to replace Boehner is now and there is nothing in the House Rules that would prevent it.
It’s up to us to provide the proper motivation for our Reps to do just that.
I called my Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) and told his staffer that I would like a solid commitment from him to move to force Boehner to step aside. I was firm but polite and pointed out the fact that our Primary Race is a couple of weeks away.
IF enough people do the same or similar, we may have a chance. If no one does, we’re screwed.

THEY DID NOT RAISE THE DEBT LIMIT.
(This is the third headline that says they did for Pete’s sake!
THEY TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED IT ENTIRELY, AGAIN.
“...bill suspending the nations borrowing cap until March 2015” per RollCall.
I haven’T found the text of the bill.
Hasn't this vote already taken place? (it is February, after all)
What's the point of signing this petition?
Thank You!
Glad to see not one of our TEXAS Delegation voted with the Surrender Monkey.
I also notice that the Three Stooges were having their own little daisy chain.
We have our target list, people! Primary Away!
Could you primadonas raise my debt limit?
Not a surprising list. Mostly committee chairmen and ball less RINOs from blue states.

The SRs (Socialist Revolutionary Party) voted with the Bolsheviks in 1917, all it got them was VIP express lane processing for the Gulag and a future as landfill.
Issa. Figures
Yup. HE’s gonna investigate....something.....
I wonder where the staunchest of GOP defenders has been lately...Hey What’s Up, where’s your excuses THIS TIME????
Looks like Boehner’s drinking buddies voted to save his sorry behind.
Keep in mind that the position of House Speaker does NOT have to go to a sitting member of the House. They can put anybody into that position.
Hell yeah, it’ll be a fight. We’re Americans and we LOVE a good fight now and then.

They are around, Norm. Just today I got told I'd have to vote for the lesser evil. And the same bastard said that Cruz needed to mind his own business.
They are still here, and they need to go.
