Just a guess, but maybe if the mother ingests certain drugs, tobacco smoke, or spicy foods. I've heard that the baby can feel the mothers emotions - if the mother has an argument or suffers some emotional trauma, like the death of a loved one.
Perhaps ‘angry’ is not the correct word to use. Irritated/agitated may be more accurate.

The research shows that the baby experiences his mother's emotions. So whatever she is ---excited, grumpy, tense, peaceful--- so is he.!
Like they say, if the mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy.
Keep your pregnant lady happy!

“... what’s he got to be angry about?”
I imagine a lot of things. My Mom use to tell me that when she was carrying me.. the kid across the street would start up his motorcycle every morning. I would kick, spin, and it felt like I was crawling up towards her throat. Even after he drove to work, I’d still be riled up. When I was pregnant with my son, he would kick HARD if I ate heavy friend foods. He was born with a crib size 2 and now wears a 14.. so it hurt like heck!

Just wondering - whats he got to be angry about? "Angry" was probably the catch-all word used by the researchers to describe everything that was not "joy."

Correction,
No child should ever have to feel fear of being attacked or threatened in the womb by doctors.
