Good! I hope they actually do it. I understand there’s a similar effort in Washington state.

The feds would just extort another two or three billion dollars from taxpayers to add a solar power ssystem and drill wells or fly water in on helicopters.

Turn off their sewer service. That will get them out of the building quicker than anything.

The feds will step in, end of story. Either way, all of the states surrounding DC are part of the DC power structure, and would very unlikely bite the hand of the master that feeds them.

It’s too bad they can’t include the TSA molesters along with the NSA.

This idea will fail. What’s keeping Virginia from doing the same to the Pentagon if they don’t like a war we’re fighting, for example?

This is pretty ding dong interesting and about ding dang time. I’m emailing this story to everyone in my Addressbook. Any Republican candidate who runs on this issue will win. But that Republican candidate would have to have the yarbles these gentlemen have.

The big data center is in Utah. It has huge diesel motor generators and storage tanks to run without any outside power for at least 30+ days.

You all do realize that the privacy beach NSA is accused of vis a vis your phone data, is less than 10% of what NSA does?

I’m sure you will rejoyce, after the shut down, when all mil intel is absent, which is 90% of what NSA does.

Iran, China, Russia, Cuba, and N Korea will send you all party favors free.

State or local officials ignoring the NSA sanctions would be fired, local governments refusing to comply would lose state grant funds and companies would be forever barred from state contracts.

LOL. Repubs are a mere token in the MD State House, and this "legislation" is a crass suckup move to look hard-line. NSA is one of the -- if not THE -- largest employer in the state (if you include feds, defense contractors, and everyone from food service to footwear who associates with them). Embarrassing posturing from the Stupid Party.

Any Repubicans in The Old Line State are extremists. They are from the extreme East (eastern shore) or the extreme west (west of the Hagarstown Valley). Nearly everywhere in between is liberal la-la land.
Except for the extreme east and west, where the population is sparse, Maryland has run amok.
Montgomery, PGee, Baltimore (County and City), and nearly all the counties that border these, have long ago turned to socialism.
It is a beautiful state, otherwise. Sadly, one of its nicknames is prophetic: “America in Miniature.”
Sad.
