GOP Sen. Kelly Ayotte (N.H.) on Sunday urged House Republicans to take up immigration reform, despite a trust deficit with President Obama.
Heres the deal: The status quo is totally unacceptable, she said on CBSs Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer.
I think we should solve this. I think [Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio)] can find a way forward. Certainly, the bill that came out of the Senate was not perfect, but it was a good solution to a hard problem, Ayotte continued. I think its an important issue to solve not only for the country, but for the Republican Party.

Here’s a simple question:
What if there are 50 million illegals who will get amnesty?
Will America & the Liberals be so eager then to open up those doors wider???
Do the math....
The accepted number of illegals in the late 60’s & early 70’s was 20 million.
The border has been very porous—they haven’t gone home & there hasn’t been a mass die off. And they have been having babies like having litters.
I calculate the true number of illegals poised to get amnesty is much closer to 50 million Plus. That would make a ratio of about 1 to every 6 Americans.
Then watch them apply for unemployment & all those great Federal & State government benefits. Who is going to pay for them to have Obamacare???

Ms. Ayotte is a perfect example why there is a “trust deficit”. Do any of us anymore trust what any politician says they will do?
And, yes the Ayotte voice is too “trembley”. Hard to feel confident about anything coming from her.

not towing the democrat lineThat would be "toeing" the line.
She's not a tugboat, just a RINO.
We, as Freepers don't want to look like idiots to the opposition, or, worse, the undecided.
The use of proper spelling, grammar and punctuation will help us to appear intelligent.

That 11 million they keep using is a false number. It is much greater. each one taking a job away from Americans. They also are forcing wages down for all. That amnesty would bring in a 100 million Mexicans and destroy this country.

Well, well, well. Obamacrat Senator Ayotte used the “F” word, “FORWARD,” to force gullible Speaker Boehner into destroying the remnants of the Republican Party.
Yup, it is easy to smoke out the traitors when an important fight looms.
BRING IT, Obamacrat Senator Ayotte, BRING IT!

Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration."
I agree with him that Latinos should be a natural constituency. But the issue isn't that the GOP has pushed them away; it's that the Dems have gotten very, very good at policy misrepresentation and identity politics that Latinos refuse to even look at all the issues where they're Conservative and therefore more aligned with the GOP.
Boehner, as I've said in other threads, has stumbled into the right course on this: we don't trust Obama and the Dems, we can't trust Obama and the Dems. Until their nonsense stops - and that includes both enforcing the existing laws AND cutting out the identity politics crap we're not even going to discuss the matter.
Which, of course, results in the stalemate that Paul mentions: because without identity politics the Dems have absolutely nothing ...
