Olympic TV announcers: Go Russia! Booooo USA!

As the young Olympic gymnast competed in the all-arounds, the TV announcer said: "She messed up really well. This is so good, she got another deduction of points."
Not the type of attitude you'd normally expect from a TV sports commentator. Unless the announcer is Russian, and the athlete is an American.
Before Russian gymnast Viktoria Komova did her vault, Ivanova announced: "Vikochka (sweet Vicky), show these Americans how it should be done."
After Komova made mistakes in her routine, Ivanova remarked with: "She made a few mistakes, but we did not notice them."

The one sport I really enjoyed watching yesterday was the Biathlon....Skiing and Shooting. This is the sport that gets all the static from the critics. This is also a very important activity during wartime in a number of Nordic countries.

I am SO with you on that. I’m 49, and I remember when I was a kid and the Olympics were huge, just like the Oscars, and Miss America, and God knows what else. Now they are ALL so old and tired and yesterday.

NBC Edits Out IOC Anti-Discrimination Statement From Opening Ceremony
http://deadspin.com/nbc-edits-out-ioc-anti-discrimination-statement-from-op-1518727938
Russia’s anti-gay laws have been a major focus in the lead-up to the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, and during his address at today’s opening ceremony IOC president Thomas Bach made a strong statement against “any form of discrimination” and in favor of tolerance. Viewers worldwide heard the statement; NBC viewers in the U.S. did not, because the network edited it out.
The video above is how it aired on NBC tonight. You’ll notice a very awkward edit. Below is how it appeared everywhere else on Earth to viewers watching live:

Actually, they weren’t that bad...especially when the rest of the choir joined in on the harmonic “ahhhh” parts. The looks on some of the “older more disapproving” choir members were funny...as though they half expected Stalin to show up and have them all shot!
