Ingraham Battles George Will, Fox Panel: GOP ‘Elites’ Pushing Immigration Reform
Mediaite ^ | 2/9/14 | Evan McMurry

Posted on 02/09/2014 12:40:22 PM PST by Jean S

Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham battled the rest of the Fox News Sunday panel over immigration, arguing that immigration reform and current enforcement of immigration laws were weakening the American workforce, even as her fellow panelists countered that reform would bolster the economy.

“I think what we’re seeing here is a split inside the Republican Party between two staunch conservatives,” host Chris Wallace said, going on to ply Ingraham with a Wall Street Journal editorial that called flinching on reform “de facto amnesty.”

“As far as I can tell, the Wall Street Journal is on the side of Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Barack Obama, Pat Leahy and La Raza,” Ingraham said. “I think they should put down their dogeared copy of Fountainhead and live in the real world…Do we care about American workers at all?”

“You’re the one who’s arguing the AFL-CIO argument,” Will said, noting that the “economic dynamism” aided by immigrants would help sustain the American workforce.

“So why have a border at all?” Ingraham said. “There is no will to enforce the border. There is no faith in this administration to do it. The Republican elites and the Democratic elites agree, and the people are revolting across this country.”

Wallace and Juan Williams then challenged Ingraham with the fact that deportations under the Obama administration were at record highs; she countered that Obama’s executive order to defer action against undocumented young people in the summer of 2012 belied this argument.

Yes, they are. Latin Americans come here to work. Muslims are brought here by our government to be put on welfare.

Unless, of course, you think Latin Americans should not be admitted, period. BTW, New Mexico and Arizona could not become states until the 20th century because they were considered “too Catholic” and “too Spanish.”

They should not be admitting so many foreign workers wherever they are from. Like what is happening within the EU.

Every poll says the public wants less legal immigration.

Now if the push poll it and ask should we deport 12 million illegals in 1 year or should we give them legal status the answer is obvious.

We dont have 12 million Latin American Farm workers.

They are doing jobs Americans do.

Millions of Illegal alien drivers can kill as many as dozens of arabs.

BTW, New Mexico and Arizona could not become states until the 20th century because they were considered “too Catholic” and “too Spanish.”

Not to mention that neither met the criterion for population until after the 1910 census -- which credited New Mexico with 327K and Arizona with 204K. Neither had 200K population in the 1900 census.

Will is such a moron.

Williams should be put on a deserted island and left to fend for himself.

Truly amazing how far this country has fallen into the hands of an elite few, that think they can rule over all of us.

“Yes, they are. “

Where do you get that people have the right to immigrate? This isn’t THEIR country! They have a country. Go back to it an make that one better.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

Hispanic unemployment is sky high.

Why bring in millions more when the Hispanic living here here don’t have jobs?

Can someone please explain this to me?

Did anyone see the earlier segment on Fox news Sunday regarding Obamacare when George Will stated that most people are not aware that Social Security was created to alleviate a tight job market by encouraging people to retire...

I found this an interesting comment and had not heard that rationale for the establishment of Social Security. I have not found anything on internet in basic searches about this...

Anyone have any additional thots, info or links on this?

I just now, watched that discussion.

She is RIGHT.

The Obama administration is sold out. The Democrat party is sold out. And the Republican party is sold out.

Everyone is sold out. Meanwhile more and more people out in middle America, are getting more and more fed up with our politicians, who are not standing up for Americans.

Laura is right - nobody represents the people anymore. Certainly not the democrats, but also not the Republican establishment nor the millionaire talking heads like Will and Williams.

They screwed us with Reagan's Amnesty, it destroyed California, he was well intentioned, but Ronaldus Maximus got rolled. The likes of Rush and Newt and the boys sold us on NAFTA and it destroyed America's Manufacturing Base and don't tell me about Comparative Advantage I get it, it doesn't work with quasi-fascist states like China, we are getting rolled as we speak.

They screwed us twice, not again, no to any bill period...

If they really want to help this country? 15% Corp tax that fits on a postcard. Make Cap Gains and Div's 15% again too. All the countries that outsourced will come back especially if ever open up our Federal Lands Again to Fracking...
