DALLAS — Sen. Rand Paul on Friday met with George P. Bush, a rising star in Texas GOP politics, to discuss how to broaden the Republican Party’s appeal in diverse communities.
“Really I wanted to get advice from him, as much as anything, about how the party grows in Texas and states with large Hispanic populations,” Paul (R-Ky.) told POLITICO backstage after stumping for a state senate candidate here.
Bush recommended “showing up” in those communities, Paul said. The senator, who has said he is seriously considering a 2016 presidential bid, often talks about the importance of growing the Republican Party, and has made it a point to reach out to minority communities. Bush, the son of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, is running for land commissioner here, and as a Hispanic Republican — his mother is from Mexico — has been a vocal advocate for expanding the GOP tent.
“He’s very personable and I love to see the young faces, the new faces, maybe in the party,” Paul said of Bush. “I also think he brings a lot to the party as far as being a fluent Spanish speaker.”
Bush tweeted a picture of the pair, adding, “Great to visit w/ @senrandpaul regarding the bright future for the GOP.”
Paul’s comments came after a speech at the Frontiers of Flight museum, where he threw himself into a hotly contested GOP state senate primary by campaigning for a tea party-backed candidate, Don Huffines, a real estate developer who has known the Paul family for decades.

Y’know, none of these discussions about immigration ever look at the exit door, only the entrance.
Who are the people who are leaving and what are they taking with them? We know their numbers are increasing. Heck, one of the more sought after reservations in Europe is an interview at the US Embassy to renounce citizenship.

He actually spoke the truth there. This is the underlying reason why the uniparty wants amnesty. It’s all about the money and the power. There are 12 million plus illegals living amongst us. They’re surviving and in some cases thriving on the shadow economy. The uniparty doesn’t want the rest of us to look around and notice and start getting any uppity ideas.

Seems to me like he’s trying to make himself palatable to the uniparty. His dad didn’t and was marginalized as a result.
That’s just spin-doctoring — he’s only speaking the truth that he wouldn’t support deportation of 12 million illegals, and that’s despite the fact that the number is probably twice that high.
The GOP needs to actively campaign in all areas and must field candidates of all backgrounds.

None of the politicians are willing to support deportations. That’s why there are so many illegals. The numbers continue to increase despite the last amnesty under Reagan that was supposed to cure the problem.
We’ll end up with amnesty regardless. The uniparty wants it and what the uniparty wants, it almost always gets.
The way the Texas districts are drawn up they don’t really need to.
Working class white voters in the midwest have a much bigger say than Hispanics in Texas as to who the next President is.
Sadly, hundreds of thousand TX Republican primary voters feel compelled for unexplained reasons to keep the Bush name alive.
President Reagan wasn't perfect -- especially on immigration -- but one thing he understood was the need to communicate with people. How do you think he got all those "Reagan Democrats" to jump ship and vote for him? How do you think he pulled in legions of young people to support him? It damn sure wasn't by pandering to them. He spoke to them, not at them. That's something few on our side have understood in the 25 years since Ronaldus Maximus left office.
Whoever the Pubbies nominate in 2016 had damned well better be able to communicate with Hispanics, with young people, with blacks, with Orientals, with unemployed whites, and so on. Otherwise we might as well save our money, not hold an election, and just go ahead and crown Hillary as Lesbo-in-Chief.

Im not sure if educating Hispanics on why illegal immigration is a crime would get a net amount of Hispanic votes or is even in their top 3 of issues.
I think the GOP should do outreach but I don’t know if Rand Paul is the guy to communicate that while he flip flops on immigration.

Well, anyone supporting Rand Paul would be supporting his push for amnesty for illegals. Info like the following opened my eyes to him.

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
