Many people dream of what it might be like to pack up everything and move abroad. Currently, there are more than 6.3 million Americans who have done just that, keeping their U.S. passport but building a new life in one of more than 160 countries around the world.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Pvt. Possum checking in. I clicked on this thread figuring that there may be a visitor we’re familiar with. Not so far, I see, but there is a very good possibility.
“”That does not, however, mean they dont have to file taxes””
RUUTROW...for one person who loves to bash America and lives abroad.....
FU IRS and 0bama
I present to you the lobster in the pot ...
A very important element in American politics is about to reveal itself in the midterm elections.
I'd LOVE to see a revolutionary spirit emerge..
I'd LOVE to hear of a patriot congresscritter punching an enemy democrat in the face and drawing blood ... demanding he stand up and fight back ..
But there ARE no such men ...., just we whom DESIRE confrontation and realize it will never happen because ... we're alone.
An Army of a thousand is, for all practicle purposes ..
alone.
“the most basic tax return from overseas can cost anywhere from $3,000 to $7,500
FU IRS and 0bama”
Actually I think these laws originated with Calvin Coolidge and Obama is not much more of a crook in this area than any other president
What makes the laws brutal is that the most common occupation of an American expat, depending on how you figure the statistics and leaving out military personal,is a missionary or school teacher. Neither of those are professions you generally get rich doing. Yet it is these people on the lower end of the scale that are hurt the most by the laws.
The US laws are so onerous that if Hu Jintao had not taken China backwards from the reforms that Deng Xiaoping and Zang Xiamen had started my wife and I might have just taken up Chinese citizenship and retired there because China had a less repressive system than the US. It is a shame, that from about 10985 to 2000 China was getting freer and becoming a better place to live. It is now sliding into a military dictatorship.
Note: we actually paid more taxes on our income in Hong Kong despite the lower 17% rate with very few deductions than we would have in the US but because the system was easy to comply with, didn’t require an account and was not attempting to redistribute wealth but fund the government we didn’t mind.
I have said this before but it is true. As someone who lived out side the US for nearly 20 years I would have voted for anyone and that includes Obama if they’d change the US tax laws for expats to something like Canada or the UK. That is the only time you will see or hear me say that.
If you're looking for that revolutionary spirit to emerge from the pool of politicians, and those wanna-bes whose whole lives have been a prelude to running for office, you're barking up the wrong tree. All you have to do is look around you to see the revolutionary spirit. Right here on FReep. On TB2K. On AR-15.com. On other similar forums. At Oath Keepers meetings.
The anger is here. The desire for change is here. The longing for what was good about America is here. What we have to do is motivate those people who have lost their spirit, and convince them of the truth...that we surround the tyrants and their Leftist lickspittles. What we have to do is motivate our rank and file to fight their rank and file -- not literally, I hope, but if need be, so be it.
Yeah, they have the media and pop culture (so why have we not created media and pop culture of our own? But that's for another thread), but we have the numbers. We are America, and they aren't. Instead of throwing up our hands and saying it can't be done, or it's never been done, we need to roll up our sleeves and "just do it".
They say a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Too many of us aren't even willing to take that step. It's up to us to change that.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I rest my case
When we no longer qualify our statements of rebellion, we will be ready.
I received my form 2013 just yesterday, as well as one for my child. We are not subject to any tax.
If you're ready for open rebellion, then why don't you take the first shot?
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!

Your solution .. ?
“Your solution .. ?”

The dogs have no solution. All they can do is bark.
One is particularly fond of saying that he is there to “FIGHT”, but has yet to explain what fight means.
Fighting is for defending against a foreign invasion.
Fighting your fellow citizens, civil war, was not pretty the last time it was used, and barking at us expats means nothing.
While I am a very devoted American, as seen by my active participation on FR for the last 15 years, It is my right to avoid the Obamination, and the cost that one bares in living there. There is nothing anyone can do, other then vote. Barking is only counterproductive.
I will continue my right to live a non-socialist life wherever I choose.
As I have said before, manger dogs, my son has lived in London for over twenty years and has an accountant to figure his US and British taxes. Any US citizen must file an income tax form even if he/she doesn’t owe taxes to the US.
A US citizen in the Philippines must file or face those large penalties.
Bark, Bark.
Ok, ok...
