Coming just a week after Coke made waves when it aired the first Super Bowl ad to showcase a set of same-sex parents, the car-maker's new campaign is called "The New Us" and portrays a series of wide-ranging families.
"And while what it means to be a family hasn't changed," intones the Chevrolet narration over clips that include nuclear families, mixed race couples, adoptive parents, gay and lesbian parents, combinations of the above, and others, "what a family looks like, has. This is the new us."
The games have been criticized for taking place in Russia, which has made "gay propaganda" illegal. Earlier this week the deputy prime minister of Russia warned gay Olympic athletes not to touch children.
Chevrolet's new ad was welcomed by the gay community.

According to gaywheels (yes, there is such a website), the least-gay car companies are Hyundai/Kia and Porsche.
Almost all major automakers are active supporters of gay causes.
Our tax dollars paid for this.
I imagine Soetoro put them up to this. After all, Barry owns Gubmint Motors. Celebrating Queerdom at the Olympics. Nice!
We can only hope.
Sorry, Pooty, America is bound and determined to turn your 0lympics into a Gay Pride Parade.
Two to four percent is a gross overstatement.
That is EVERY tv ad of the past 5 years. Thats why the mixed couple commercials don't bother me. At least there's a daddy. Most are single mother household commercials now (dumb daddy ads are not so much).
No wonder I am quotaed out of work.
All of the pre-super bawl car commercials (weeks leading up to that sunday) showed women driving the vehicles. Men in the back seat if they got in the car at all.
I've been without tv for 6 years now. It is different. I don't see it daily but when I do see it, the difference is tangible.
If corporate amerikkka is going to be uber liberal and take my contributions to society for granted, well screw them and the politician they rode in on.
I do not understand the photo...The guy in the pic looks like the old man in Pawn Stars. Are we to assume that he is a gay advocate?
That commercial one big propaganda march
Gay shite galore
Mixed race couplings galore
Nearly all couples period even when same race...were non whites
A guy drops in US from Mars he would think US is tiny percentage white and hugely homo from our Mad ave bs
I wonder did Obama and Jarrett get to these idiots....we are being creamed with these themes non stop
Does mixing blacks with whites validate blacks now?
Why is that not bigotry....
We are so screwed culturally...the progressive socialists of which racial reconstruction is mother’s milk are whooping the dog shite out of us
Us being mostly clueless or scared to say a damned thing.... given bigots feel no love..lol
No — just an old man and a classic car
Look at Hollywood and media and advertising.... and some tech sectors like Google
I think we have a Hollywood insider here claimed 30-40% of screen and sit com and reality writers were homosexuals
Look at Bravo....E!...
NBC.....STARZ....HBO
Sam Elliot sells queer trucks....tell me you’re lying
Cummins diesel...rox
We had a pair of Jeeps - now she has a RAV4 and I have a Camry.
Yet another reason I just can’t see myself buying a Government Motors product.
.....between 1971 and circa 2009, my companies bought around 150 chevy’s of all kinds, mostly trucks. When Obama, Reid and Pelosi pulled off the GM stockholder heist, I never bought another one. Today, my own personal vehicle is a Toyota Avalon, best vehicle I ever owned.
I am proud to note for my fellow Texans that Chevy Truck Sales (as a % of total truck sales) are off, by their own admittance, approximately 20% in Texas. Wish it were 100%.
Perhaps we should call our local Cehevy dealers, ask to speak to a manager, and politely tell him or her that if Chevy wants to sell more vehicles, pandering to 1% of the population with an alternatve lifestyle is NOT the way to do it. Say (again, politely!) that GM vehicles have been crossed off your list.
My "New Road" is the Ancient Faith!
My son is already figuring out how to convert the Chevy emblams on his hub caps into Patriarchal crosses.
