Cleta Mitchell, attorney for an assortment of Tea Party groups that received very special attention from Barack Obama’s politicized Internal Revenue Service, lowered the boom on what she described as a “sham, non-existent” Justice Department investigation of the scandal during House Ways and Means Committee hearings on Thursday:
“I want to make three primary points here today,” said Mitchell. ”First, the IRS scandal is real. It’s not pretend, it’s real. Number two, the IRS scandal is not just a bone-headed bunch of bureaucrats in some remote office contrary to what the President of the United States told the American People on Sunday. And, number 3, the IRS scandal is not over. It is continuing to this day. And the Department of Justice Investigation is a sham. It is a nonexistent investigation.”
Her one-sentence summary of the scandal was powerful stuff: “The IRS, at the direction of some political elites in Washington - not in Cincinnati, but Washington – took what had been, for decades, a process of reviewing applications for exempt status that, for 501(c)(4) organizations, could be expected to take three to four weeks, and they converted that process into one that took three to four years, and in some cases is still not over.”

As much as I want to send Lerner down the river, the House needs to give her immunity for her testimony. She is the link for the bigger fish upstream.
The rinopublicans are not serious about this investigation. Most likely they are secretly happy that Tea Party organizations are being hassled by the IRS.
Same thing with Benghazi. Until Leon Panetta is asked under oath what he told Obama that investigation is going nowhere either.
This is the complete video set for the hearing. I would suggest everyone take the time to watch it. Although clips have merit and demonstrate a brief quote – the entire hearing is well worth the time to watch in context.
It is chilling to see how far the government would go to diminish or stomp out free speech. Those new rules from the IRS will definitely affect elections. Becky Gerritson, during an interview with Cavuto, identified various terms that can’t be used 30 days out from an election. @ 3:56 – oppose, vote, reject, candidate’s name, political party.

Catherine Engelbrecht has filed an ethics complaint against Cummings. There were a couple of interactions with Cummings in the hearings. Recall that there were senators who started the IRS ball rolling.

That cat is already out of the bag. As Sekalow pointed out yesterday, the memo that was released yesterday lays out those up her chain of Command AT TREASURY in Washington D.C. that were involved. Cummings was too busy worrying obut his own troubles to be conserned with Evidence To Crimes the Administration committed.

Engelbrecht was audited by the IRS, ATF and received multiple visits by OSHA and ATF.
After the hearing, Engelbrecht and her attorney Cleta Mitchell filed a complaint against Democratic Ranking Member Elijah Cummings for his intimidation and ..
Congressman Cummings on three separate occasions sent letters on letterhead from this committee, stating that he had concerns and felt it necessary to open an investigation on True the Vote,” Engelbrecht said.
On Fox News’ The Kelly File, Engelbrecht described federal government intimidation as “weaponizing of government.”
Cummings must be added to the list of those to be tries and then executed
Unfortunately the reason there are NO INDICTMENTS is that Washington D.C. has become Kabuki theater central.

Disband the IRS and institute a national sales tax, and retain some kind of tax on corporation income.
And appoint a special prosecutor now, Mr. Boehner.
