...celebrity boxing promoter Damon Feldman says he got Zimmerman to agree to engage in a celebrity boxing match for charity. However Sharpton, the civil rights activist and leader of the National Action Network, is warning people against being quick to label Zimmerman a celebrity.
"We must be very careful not to glorify or in any way sidestep the implications of making someone whose only claim to fame was killing an unarmed young man named Trayvon Martin into a cultural celebrity or hero," Sharpton told CNN. "It is perfectly legal for him to exploit his fame but we should never forget what he is famous for and not behave like he is a celebrity based on gifts or talent or contributions to society."
A Change.org petition has also been created to stop the bout from taking place.
"This is a blatant show of disrespect and nothing positive or righteous would come from such a stunt," the petition states.

Guess it will be a long time before Al admits that Z did the world a favor by removing a dangerous thug off the streets.
Zimmerman better hope someone doesn’t plan for this to be a public execution because he is going to take a beating.

That’s good advice about Sharpy himself. Seems everyone forgets his claims to fame.
Zimmerman is a fool for getting involved in this. He should be laying low, and keeping a low profile.
This is a riot waiting to happen. If Z wins, all hell breaks loose. If he loses, it will be a ‘celebration’ and spree of Knockout. If Z gets beaten to death, well... you can imagine how ‘empowered’ that will make people of a certain mental disposition react.
VERY dumb move on Z’s part.
Sharpton doesn’t speak for blacks. He speaks for weak minded liberals, but not blacks.

Come on Al. You know you REALLY want see Z be beaten to a pulp but I sense you have some reservations about the outcome. Kinda reminds me of the old american folklore tale of Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby. I’m just not sure whose playing the rabbit and fox in this tale.
