SURGIONSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An East Tennessee couple faces a murder charge, accused of forcing the man's 5-year-old daughter to drink more than 2 liters of grape soda and water, causing her brain to swell and rupture, authorities said...
The girl was blue and unresponsive with "an abnormal body posture that indicates severe brain damage," according to the autopsy, which was completed in July 2013.

Another story I read said that he is 41 and she is 58. Sounds like a passive male with very big “take care of me” issues. Could not stand up to “mama”.
Gee, another death from dihydrogen monoxide. When will Obama ban it from soda to save the children?
Soda is water + CO2.
CO2 is carbon
I wish I could oversee the punishment for people like this. Their suffering would be but a minor precursor to what awaits them.
Stories like this kill me.........
Prayers up for the little girl, that she’s with Jesus right now.
This is sick, absolutely horrible...
and the other reason is those stories were written by men... there are some pretty evil stepfathers too...
These two need to die in a slow agonizing way. I am to the point I will volunteer to administer the penalty to any offenders.
Two ropes and a tree. What are the people of that community waiting for?
quote “She was taken to an outpatient clinic about a month before her death for excessive thirst, urination and eating, but nothing was found to be wrong with her.”
something doesn’t add up here, I think there is more to this story.
oh definitely, the step fathers and “boyfriends” do the molesting
I tell people, no one lays hands on that child who is not the parent
and the kids come first, you knew they ha kids when you two got together
undiagnosed diabetes
Welcome to FR, home of the Bitter Divorced Woman-Haters.
I agree, but I don't think it is just divorced men who participate in women bashing on FR.
It’s even worse than that. The little girl died 2 years ago. They have just completed their investigation. Read here for more: http://www.timesnews.net/article/9072906/parents-charged-with-murder-in-2012-death-of-5-year-old

This stepfather of 2 (me) differs with you. And does not appreciate the broad brush of stepfathers doing the molesting.
I walked my stepdaughter down the aisle at her wedding, her bio dad was in attendance. It was her choice and her decision. I raised her, not him.
The large majority of men in my position do NOT molest, but because we don’t, we get no press. Who writes stories about successful blended families?
Doesn’t matter. Water will kill you ingested too much. Anything will kill you if there is too much.
Interesting that I watched an episode about exactly this problem last year in “Curious and Unusual Deaths”. Wasn’t that long ago, either.
I don’t know if you were the one the other day when similar subject came up.
My sister and brother (really, “half-”) were raised by my father, he was stepdad (but adopted them). Everything was wonderful, and “the bum” as my mother calls him was completely out of the picture, thank God. My sister said before she died she didn’t care anything about her bio dad and didn’t care that he didn’t know she is dying.
The times we have to be suspicious of non-bios (and sometimes bios) is when the people are clearly trash. I think these people are trash, and I’m not saying that simply because of this crime.
I was taught as a freshman in high school many, many years ago that you can die from drinking too much water. They’re too busy teaching such things as Common Core to cover the basics of health.
Jesus had something to say about those who harm children.
That was my thought...
