The 300-year-old Stradivarius violin that was taken from the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra's concertmaster in an armed robbery last month has been found and will be returned to its owner later Thursday, authorities said.
Three suspects two men, ages 42 and 36, and a woman, 32 were arrested Monday morning at their respective Milwaukee residences and remain in police custody.
Milwaukee police Chief Edward Flynn said at a news conference Thursday afternoon that the violin was found in a suitcase in an attic of a city residence, with the help of tips from citizens and information received from Taser International about the stun gun used in the robbery.
Police determined that one suspect, Universal Allah, had bought the stun gun, while another, Salah Jones, became the main suspect based on an independent tip. Jones has been linked to a prior art theft.
Milwaukee police have referred the case to the Milwaukee County district attorney's office, and charges are expected to be filed Friday.
The violin appeared to be in good condition, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra president Mark Niehaus said at the news conference.
"We have pretty strong confidence that the violin is fine," Niehaus said.
Mayor Tom Barrett called it a "wonderful day" for all involved.
"It was a model of cooperation with the FBI working closely with the police department," Barrett said at the news conference.
Violinist Frank Almond, who was robbed of the Strad on Jan. 27, thanked investigators in a statement released Thursday by the Milwaukee Symphony.

I think most Strad aficionados would say “Yep What is your point”?
They are both SonsOf0bama though.

I'm thinking he didn't make much money selling Tupperware...
And the original signed Constitution of the United States, residing in the National Archives, is nothing but a worthless piece of paper.........
I'm forever amazed at the blatant ignorance posted by many of the folks on this site...........
As in your case, I suspect they're just drunk and looking for an argument.........
Must have been Amish.
Yeah, but what a sound in the hands of a master.
Anyway...
Universal Allah, had bought the stun gun, while another, Salah Jones,
Let me guess.....
No, no, no. It was the OTHER one - (something) Saleh who was involved in another art theft about 5 years ago.
Also, Universal Knowledge Allah is NOT Gwen Moore's son. He is in the same gang with Gwen Moore's son (Superme Solar Allah) and worked for SS Allah at one time. There is NO EVIDENCE that SS Allah (Gwen Moore's son) was involved in the Stradivarius theft.
Read all of the several stories posted about this crime.
No, no, no. Universal Knowledge Allah (violin thief) and Supreme Solar Allah (Gwen Moore's son and convicted tire slasher) are in the same "gang" (or community organizers, if you will) and are collegues.
You are conflating 2 crimes. Gwen Moore's son was convicted of the tire slashing of the GOP vans in 2002. His name was/is Supreme Solar Allah. The violin thief is Universal Knowledge Allah. They hung around together and were in the same community organizing group. There is NO EviDENCE that Gwen Moore's son had anything to do with the violin theft.
Oh yes. It was the third thief — Saleh something or an other — who had previously been involved in another art theft.
You are correct.
“A tough choice would be this fiddle and a 56 Sunburst Stratocaster.”
You forgot the seven figure price difference.
Brownie, the 56' Fender Stratocaster used by Eric Clapton, sold at auction in 1999 for $497,000. I guess it may be worth a little more now but nowhere near that of the Stradivarius. I remember when Brownie was on the wall of the music shop, Strings & Things in Memphis, Tennessee, and could have been had in the 1980's for less than $20K. Clapton had given the guitar to a roadie and that roadie needed cash when in Memphis and sold it to the owner of the shoppe. Clapton authenticated the guitar on a visit to Memphis and repurchased it so he could sell it at an auction to benefit his charity.
His full name is Universal Knowledge Allah.
His new name will be Universal Ankle Grabber.
