In an abrupt switch from his months of work to bring immigration reform back from life support, Speaker John Boehner told reporters today that the issue cannot move forward until President Obama proves he can be a trustworthy partner to implement the law as written.
“There's widespread doubt about whether this administration can be trusted to enforce our laws. And it's going to be difficult to move any immigration legislation until that changes,” Boehner said.
The change in tack comes after rank-and-file members pushed hard against action on the issue this year when immigration “principles” when unveiled at a retreat last week and top immigration hawks had begun to discuss how they could thwart Boehner in his march to bring the issue to the floor.
In the hours before Boehner made his surprise announcement, lawmakers and aides had told Breitbart News that early discussions had begun about whether to force a special leadership election in the event Boehner moved forward with immigration legislation.
“It’s going to require blood if this happens,” one GOP member said.

When it comes to trust Boehner and Obama are two birds of the same feather. Neither one trusts each other and we the public at large trusts neither one of them. Both sows mistrust every time they open their mouths. Fire them both.
The good news? All those illegals are now ten years older than the last time they seriously tried to ram this through.

The Speaker of the House herds cats as his major job. He answers to every constituency. This is a perfect response and political judo. It pleases everyone, but illegals, Democrats and Obama, but I repeat myself.
The corporatists who wanted all the illegals now have to figure out how to reign in Obama.
It is true, is it not, that the Speaker of the House does NOT have to be a member of Congress, or even of the House? So an outsider could be chosen? I nominate...shoot, the only person I can think to nominate is Ted Cruz.

No, thats not what Im saying. Im saying the republican est. was more than happy to wink at a porous border as long as it satisfied their interests (vs the interest of the country). There are plenty here who agree. They were happy to have Bush I and II do the winking b/c they were despots of the correct party. Sure there are those here that wouldnt have either party do the wrong thing...but I truly think theyre in the minority. Think back the last last pres election. The shouts for ‘Vote Romney’ drowned out common sense. Romney was NO better than Barry Soetoro in any way. He would have taken us to this place in a slightly different way all the while getting rave reviews here. If you heckle Barry is tantamount to heckling Romney too. So, FR and DU are mostly a place for dem/repub fan boys to vent on the other party. Only occasionally is there a ray of common sense instead of political rhetoric.
Romney, I cannot recall any reasonable Freeper here shouting in support of Romney.
We did have some RINO's and DEM interlopers sneak in, but they were quickly ousted
by our eagle eyed conservative hosts. They were in no way reflective of the Conservative
members of this board.
I find this board to be a valuable resource in discussing both News and Politics
and current events of our times. Never have I got the impression that Freepers
was a Vent Board, as you say.
Do we discuss the other party? Hell yes we do, they're the enemy and to ignore them
would mean complacency of the worse kind. And Venting, sure, if you want to call it that.
What's wrong with ""venting"" as you say? I have no problem with it. Non-members
come here to read all the time, and in thoroughly discussing an issue,
or the Dems, we might just change those Democrat voters minds with some good
old fashioned common sense.

Again, please be intellectually honest. This place is full of RINO lovers. They pop up reliably every pres election telling us the republican is our only hope. They fail to tell was what hope. Romney, the last example, got plenty of thumbs up here. He wasnt different than Barry in any way. Actually, I take that back. He is worse than Barry b/c at least Barry is up front mostly about who he is and what he believes in. Romney, a flaming liberal, mouthed all the happy conservative words even though he believed none of them.

Never said that. What I object to is all the republican fan boy baloney. The republican party doesnt represent conservatives or the country. Theyre quickly becoming an obsolete party b/c they stand for nothing. At least the libs are true to their communist roots and stick by them. I have to applaud them for being true to what they believe. Republicans OTOH stand for nothing. It didnt used to be that way.
