Remember it was republicans that revised bankruptcy laws (conveniently before the real estate crash) exactly as the credit and bank lobby wrote it. The lobbyists literally handed them the new laws already written.
Just imagine the retrofit pork on this.
Yeah I see our state legislature just approved renaming a stretch of highway after a fallen state trooper. I’m OK with the renaming but I’m not OK with paying lord knows how much to change signs to announce it.
The signs should stay the way they are until there is a legitimate need to replace them, then the name can be changed.
“The only reason to be these days is to vote them out in the primaries”
Yes, even though I personally believe we have gone past the ballot box I am still chomping at the bit to vote for Dr. Paul Broun for Chambliss’s senate seat in GA. He will stand shoulder to shoulder with Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Rand Paul.
I think a more suitable description is Republicanus.
more taxes!?
isn’t that what Democrats are for?
Gosh just another way to impact the poor and lower middle class who cannot afford the newest most efficient vehicles. This will do wonders for people who either have to drive long distances for work or bought homes in outlying areas because that was the only way they could afford them.
FWIW, I’m really fed up with those humongous trucks making a nightmare out of driving for everyone else. It doesn’t bother me that they pay a lot, not at all.
Have to agree. I drove local and over-the-road for a couple years, back when diesel fuel was much cheaper than regular gas. Now, diesel is much more than regular. Why is that? Seems the process would have gotten much more efficient over the years such that diesel would still be much cheaper. But no, they are raping the truckers on fuel costs as well, plus state road taxes for each state their tire touches, and on and on.
When diesel had to go to ultra low sulfur (EPA regs) that boosted it quite bit.
But don’t worry, because in 2017 GASOLINE is going to ultra low sulfur and the price will reflect that.
Do you really think those increased costs stay with the truck? Seriously?
He’d be taken to the woodshed in Texas where a milk run can be a 60 mile round trip.
One in eight people in America are here illegally. We woudlnt’ need new roads and wear would be greatly reduced if they’d kick out illegals. And stop welcoming in terrorists.
Of course not. Increasing the cost of cheap globalist crap makes it more competitive for manufacturing and food production to be more local, that's a good thing. I wonder what percentage of the goods in those humongous trucks that have taken over the interstates is from China and other third world cesspools.
Bump to your post cripple.
But it does bring up another intresting point.
Why does the federal government need to free up money in the first place?
Their whole role in this is wrong.
Think for one moment and ask yourself if you go through your day to day life without encountering one government regulatory agency or mandate.
A scary thought.
In my opinion transportation funds should be strictly confined to paying for interstate highways and bridges and possibly ports.
The bigger problem is in the way taxes are levied and how the federal government uses them as a club by withholding our own money.
I damn sure didn't miss it. I was just scrolling down to make sure someone had responded before I did. Unbelievable!
Well hell, let's just ban the damn things then! How do you think that would work out? Good grief.
Does somebody driving an 03 car need to worry about this? At what year did cars become trackable, if they did?
I find it useful to click “View Replies” under the offending post to see if anybody answered. It’s easier than scrolling down.
Wants higher gas taxes, indeed!
