With Chris Christie still stuck in a traffic scandal at the foot of the George Washington Bridge, the donors and Main Street Republicans who make up the bulk of the GOP center-right establishment can be forgiven for feeling a little nervous.
If Christie fades, this cohort, which boosted both Mitt Romney and John McCain to the nomination, fear that a Tea Party-fueled candidate will take over the party, leading to a drubbing at the hands of the Democrats come November 2016.
Thus hopes have turned to Jeb Bush as a possible savior, even though the Florida governor has been out of office for seven years. It’s why Paul Ryan is practically being dragged into the race, even though the Wisconsin congressman and former vice-presidential nominee seems set on staying in the House. It’s why there have even been rumbles that even Romney is considering another go, his two-time rejection by the American public notwithstanding.
So without other options, can the establishment learn to love Scott Walker?
The controversial Wisconsin governor is slated to come and hobnob with top New York donors this spring, and he has quickly become a top draw for radio and TV bookers now that Christie has gone mostly silent. And although Walker’s public persona as a cultural warrior for the Tea Party became cemented after his efforts to strip the union public sector of collective bargaining rights, for many, his appeal actually lies in the fact that he may be one of the few Republicans running who can sway independent voters.

Read his book “Unintimidated”.
He tells the story of how he stood up to the public unions and won. Very inspiring. He stood tall and wouldn’t give in even after the Democrats and unionistas showed their true colors. He took away the effective control by the public unions that was costing taxpayers and the school system.
Walker stood up for the taxpayers and changed a large deficit into a surplus and plans on cutting taxes to return the surplus to the taxpayers.
I voted for Rubio for the U.S. Senate.
He misled folks.
He can pound sand.
The problem with any kind of legalization of any illegal alien is that it requires amnesty not only for the relatively minor infraction of entering the US without permission, but complete forgiveness of years of income tax evasion, identity theft, welfare fraud, document falsification, driving without valid licenses, and whatever other crimes are necessary to maintain an underground identity.
If you or I were to commit any of these crimes, we would be sent to prison and permanently stripped of our right to vote or hold public office.
The idea of legalization if these criminals makes every American a second class citizen in his own country. Anyone who supports any path to legalization for these criminals is a traitor. These people are not immigrants, they are invaders. They have no more rights than enemy spies. They pretend to be citizens of the country they invaded. And by catering to them at the expense of Citizens, our politicians are guilty of sedition, if not treason.
No, Bob, I'm not in favor of amnesty. Not in the past and definitely not now.
Regarding Cruz and Lee? I would like to see the Republicans restore sanity and Constitutionality to the Senate and that will require first their sanity and both their being the majority party and competent Senate leadership from within their ranks.
As such, I don't want to lose Cruz or Lee and either man, or maybe Rand Paul, are my favorites for Senate leadership and with luck and fate's blessing, will take McConnell's place and Reid's title.
I like Gohmert every time I hear him say almost anything. That said, my preference for POTUS would be someone with management experience, such as a governor and/or from a business or military background.
I like Palin, always have, but for now I don't understand her public affection for McCain and that's a problem for me.
I think he needs another election cycle to finish what he has started in WI. I hope he decides to stay and lock WI onto the right track. Then it’s his time for DC! He has a spine of steel and I think he could stand up to the RINO pressure there.

Yeh the Daily Beast telling us all who will be the Republican nominee. I think its hysterical that none of these publications will mention the fact that its prolly going to be Ted Cruz and Rand Paul duking it out for the nomination.
Personally, I’m tired of politicians. I’d rather see Ben Carson get nominated.

Not sure if many FReepers will like Rand Paul either. He is not “pure” on immigration.
Sarah repaid her debt to John McCain when she gave him her endorsement in his 2010 re-election bid. She hasn't owed him the time of day since.
i did say penalizes. Some of the stuff put forth has had some. They just need to be harsh enough and unquestioned no B.S. adios compadre for those who don’t follow or can’t.

Personal loyalty is a bit different from a bank loan, or even a business partnership.
Yes, it is. McCain's appear to be a very different sort of personal loyalty than I've ever seen and inspire an entirely different sort of emotion from me, as does he.
I'll long remember his standing on the sidelines while people from his team and the demonrats and their one stream media continually did their best to rip her and her family to shreds.
Whatever her reasons at this point, I have too much trouble understanding them to feel enough personal loyalty to support her right now.
“Penalizes” is not enough. These people need to be held responsible for the felonies they have committed on American soil.
Most of these felonies include not only prison sentences but deportation orders following imprisonment.
Any proposal that forgives these felonies without punishment and deportation is Amnesty.
Any legal immigrant who committed any of these crimes would be jailed, sentenced and deported, no questions asked.
The amnesty for illegal aliens makes legal immigrants second class citizens.
Simply put, when we find an illegal alien, we have an obligation to see that they are promptly and properly repatriated to their HOME country.
We don’t have to look for them, but when they are found, they need to be treated equally under the law.
The MSM doesn’t like it when we refer to them as Illegal Aliens. OK, we should call them what they are. Criminal Invaders.
Sure, but Sarah doesn't owe McCain even that. She's an exceptional person in many ways, but where it comes to her association with that man, she's got an enormous blind spot.
He no longer deserves her support, and I hope she calls him out on one or more of his crazy uncle reach across the aisle moves soon.
