Christie Slides, Jeb Bush Rises
National Review ^ | 02/05/2014 | Jim Geraghty

Posted on 02/05/2014 5:44:06 AM PST by SeekAndFind

The “Chris Christie for President” moment may already be over.

Former allies are souring on him. His poll strength against Hillary Clinton in a hypothetical matchup has evaporated. Once-friendly media figures like Jimmy Fallon and Bruce Springsteen are mocking him, and their joint parody of “Born to Run” now has more than 4 million views on YouTube.

If Christie’s appointee David Wildstein is telling the truth when he claims evidence exists that proves the governor knew about the lane closures on the George Washington Bridge, and if that evidence is made public, then all the “Christie in 2016” talk is moot, because the governor will have great difficulty avoiding impeachment by the Democrat-controlled New Jersey legislature. If Wildstein is lying, Christie still has the headache of explaining why more than one of his trusted associates acted so vindictively and foolishly, and then tried to blame him.

Christie’s difficulties have caused some high-level Republican donors, bundlers, and party officials, as well as grassroots activists, to look around for a second option for 2016. No one is writing Christie off yet, but these people feel that the high stakes of the next presidential election require a backup plan.

The name that is currently highest atop their list is that of Jeb Bush, former two-term governor of Florida and son and brother of presidents.

“I’m deferring the decision until the right time, which is later this year,” Bush told reporters during a tour of a charter school in Miami last week. “The decision will be based on, ‘Can I can do it joyfully?’ Because I think we need to have candidates who can lift our spirits. It’s a pretty pessimistic country right now. And is it right for my family? I don’t even want to think about that until the right time.”

Maybe the libs will take out Jeb Bush after they grow bored with Christie, better now than Fall 2016 like they did MCcain in 2008.

I thought Christie was supposed to be the tough guy in-your -face no crap bull dog Republican?

He yelled at House GOP in 2012 for the NJ relief $$$.

Where’s the beef now?

Why do Republicans ever get the delusion that the media will ever give them good press when “push comes to shove”?

***********
Because they are the Stupid Party. Permanently stuck on stupid.

It’s scary—but I don’t see a viable conservative candidate who has a chance of winning on the horizon.

I’d still go with Sarah—but I see no way that’s going to happen.

Christie is getting his just deserts. We will not forget his slobbering support for Obama.

The Republican party is dead. Done, finished, without hope.

I would rather vote Democrat so that liberals get the blame for what they do, versus vote for a Republican who governs like a liberal, and conservatives get the blame for the Republican’s actions.

As I have stated time and again, I believe, I have seen the last Republican President of my life. There is no way on God's earth that conservatives will unite around the GOPe’s candidate and no way the GOPe will unite around any Tea Party candidate. Not after Romney, McCain, Bush, Dole and Bush. I say, make the break NOW. Work hard to pack the House with a Tea Party majority, then take the Senate, THEN the Presidency. It may take 3-5 elections cycles, but maybe our grand kids can have a free Republic without a Civil War.

RE :”Christie is getting his just deserts. We will not forget his slobbering support for Obama.”

You don't see Obama on TV defending him either, Holder is stabbing the knife in deep.

80% of MSNBC is now about Christie, crucifying him slowly.

its pretty entertaining.

I do like Scott Walker. Humble, well-spoken and strong.

Scott Walker has walked the walk. Has the proven success right before everyone’s eyes.

What about amnesty? Where does he stand?

I don’t know about that.

Keep Palin high on the list, because in my opinion Palin somewhere on the ticket, is a 100% counter to any Hillary ambition.

Just saying.

I am all for Palin as a presidential candidate. Have been since before the 2008 election. But having her on our ticket as President or even as VP, is a complete counter to Hillary’s candidacy.

Just saying. Keep an eye on the real contest.

New polls show the aging hag winning by thirty points over Jeb Bush.

She's well into double digits over all potential contenders. The GOP, if it wants to have even a snowball's chance in hell of winning in 2016, had better persuade a dark horse (Indiana Gov. Mike Pence?) to jump in.

These, from www.ontheissues.org... •Endorses path to citizenship for immigrant workers. (Jul 2013) •Make it easier to enter the country legally. (Jul 2013) •2010: stop suspected illegals; 2012: that's a distraction. (Jul 2013) •Supports AZ's immigration law and no benefits for illegals. (Jul 2010)

Yawn. Who didn’t see this one coming? The establishment replaced one hack with another hack. The Bush dynasty was always lurking out there even before Doughnut Boy’s apparent demise.

Well at least he speaks passable spanish. LOL! Other than that, a demokkkrat win would be a cake walk if he’s the nominee. The gop-e needs to pull their collective head out. But they won’t. They have also gotten to the point of ‘they know better than us peons so SDSU!’. At least the demokkrats have perfected it so dumbasses “think” they care. And isn’t that what it’s all about? Caring. Or at least “feeling” that they do.

Of course I really like my senator, Ted Cruz. However, I think he’s just too new to go into this election. In another 4 years he might have a chance.
