The city expects around 300,000 people - the same attendance as Seafair Parade - along the parade route to celebrate the Seahawks Super Bowl XLVIII Champions, the first Super Bowl winners in franchise history.

>snip

The Seahawks victory parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. It will begin just south of Seattle Center at Denny Way and travel south down 4th Avenue past Westlake Park and finish at the north entrance of CenturyLink Field.

A Super Bowl celebration will be held at CenturyLink Field following the parade. The celebration is expected to start around 1 p.m. at CenturyLink. Gates will open at 10:30 a.m.

The team said Tuesday that the Boeing Seahawks 747-8 would fly about 2, 000 feet above the stadium, coming from the south, during the celebration.

For Seahawks fans that can't make it to the parade (begins at 11 a.m.) or the event at Century Link (begins sometime between 1 and 1:30) today and want to watch or listen, King 5 TV in Seattle will be broadcasting on TV and also have live streaming: http://www.king5.com/sports/seahawks/Seahawks-victory-parade-Wednesday-in-Seattle-243269031.html

KIRO and ESPN radio will have live streaming:http://mynorthwest.com/category/listen/

ESPN will re-broadcast the super bowl game from 2-5 today: http://mynorthwest.com/292/2448008/710-ESPN-Seattle-to-reair-Super-Bowl-Wednesday

All times are Pacific

BTW - some are saying that the prediction of 300k for the parade is probably low. Also, the tickets for Century Link went very quickly, so they got approval from the Mariners to open Safeco for overflow. Those fans can watch the event at Century Link on the jumbotron at Safeco (all tickets were free) Between CLINK and Safeco I think there are over 130k seats.

Boy, I’d sure like to have the marijuana concession for that event...

A city filled with wild eyed progressives. It’ll be complete anarchy. Don’t forget the words...”brown bag” and “citizen” have been banned.

Geez, a parade because a bunch of steroid filled millionaire criminals beat a bunch of overpaid and under acheiving wimps in a contest to move a ball across a field?

Sport star worship.

If all these guys grew up in Seattle, I can see how a city might come out to honor them, but the only thing these clowns have in common with Seattle is the name of the team.

Save the parades for real heroes, not artificial ones.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but you live in Seattle. You’re used to it.

We’re going to the Event at Century Link field (thankfully, have tickets for that). The doors open at 10:30 and we’re supposed to be able to watch the parade on the jumbotrons.
My nephew was a little disappointed in not being at the parade, and I said, yes, but we have it better: not so crowded, can see everything, get to sit, AND, we get to hear the players’ speeches. Plus, we have easy access to go inside for RRs, food and beverages and warmth :-)

It was in the high 40s here last week - today the high is going to be in the low 30s - - so we’ll be bundled up!!

I don’t think there will be any issues today - - just a lot of estactic fans welcoming our champions home.

There are a lot of progressives in the city (and, unfortunately, many of them are in government). However, there are also what I would call Blue Dog Democrats and there are conservatives in the city, and especially out in the burbs like me.

Eastern WA is very conservative. Western WA used to lean conservative until we started getting infiltrated with libs from Calif. Similar what’s happened to some of the states on the east coast (NH, VA, etc.).

As much as we love Peyton was excited over your win. A big CONGRATULATION ! Nothing like a Super Bowl win to unite the state and spur the economy!

I’m in VA so I’ve seen the march toward progressivism 1st hand. Here, they’ve infiltrated from MD, NJ, MA etc.

My goodness, it’s obvious that you’re not too into sports, especially football. That’s fine - to each his/her own. Some of us are.

I’m certainly not calling them heroes and I don’t think we’re worshiping them (I only worship God). It’s simply a celebration of their win.

I do know real heroes - my dad was a lifer in the AF, served in 3 wars and I have numerous family members and friends that were in WWI, WWII, Korea, or served in the states (including in the missile silo). In fact, a AF pilot I was dating years ago was killed in a plane crash. We have several bases (Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force) not far from Seattle and we honor our troops in other ways.

This city (in fact the entire state and a good portion of the NW calls the Seahawks their football team, including Sarah Palin) has been waiting for a SB victory for 38 years. We’ve only been once before and lost.

I see nothing wrong with celebrating their victory (SOP for other teams that have won). And, BTW, the Seahawks are paying for the entire thing, including pay for the extra policemen. They’ve also asked the WA National Guard to participate and the guard was really happy about it.

Lastly, many of the Seahawk players and staff do a lot of community service, much of which isn’t hyped in the media and/or for photo ops. There are also quite a few religious guys on the team, including our QB, Russell Wilson.

Best,
SC

I know and it’s a shame. Afraid they’re now trying to do it to FL and I think they have their eyes on TX. They mess up their own area with higher taxes and other progressive iniatives, regs, etc. and then move to what had been a “red state” or “red-leaning” state and try to do the same thing there. Some are just stupid (doing the same thing, expecting different results) and IMHO others are just plain socialist trying to take over our great country, 1 town, city then state at a time.

VA is a great state - hope it can go back to being more conservative. I really feel for you for what you have for a Gov now - - Terry McAwful - yuck! I never liked him, always thought he was smarmy.

For you, maybe. But for many, sports is a religion and players are gods.

In professional football, the worship services are always on Sunday.

The word "fan" is just an abbreviation of the word "fanatic".

Would your city give a parade in honor of Jesus? If it was on Superbowl Sunday, would you turn out?

In answer to your question, no I am not a big sports fan. I don't like the atmosphere of professional sports. It is no longer a game, it is a business. There is nothing local about a professional team. They will pack up and abandon your town in a heartbeat if it means more money for them.

Have fun at your parade. I hope it rains.

I actually started feeling sorry for Peyton during the 3rd quarter - glad he got at least 1 TD. He’s a class act. Richard Sherman was praising him during an interview. Mentioned that Peyton came over to him after the came and asked how he was doing (Sherman got injured during the game and came out on crutches and a boot (high ankle sprain). Sherman said Peyton didn’t have to do that, how much he appreciated it and it just showed the class Manning has.

Thanks! We’re all very excited!

Wrt the economy, my sister and I were just talking last night that we’d like to have a fraction of the $$s all the sports stores are doing in Seahawk items - - probably more than they make in 6 months total. Lines everywhere and things are flying off the shelves! A lot was sold after the NFC win, too. I suspect a lot of people will stay downtown and have lunch after the parade, so that will help some of the restaurants (large and small).

I would certainly think so. And, absolutely I would!

“Have fun at your parade. I hope it rains.”

Thanks. Actually, it’s supposed to be sunny but cold.

Have a nice day!

Two key portions of your text...(doing the same thing, expecting different results) and “smarmy”. McAwful and DeBlasio are both...smarmy.

I’m a Realtor in VA. I’ve seen and listened to the same thing over and over. “Wow! Your property taxes are so low. Not like where we’re moving from in NY or MD or NJ.” “We love Kerry, Clinton, Obama”.
