Justice Antonin Scalia predicts that the Supreme Court will eventually authorize another a wartime abuse of civil rights such as the internment camps for Japanese Americans during World War II.
"You are kidding yourself if you think the same thing will not happen again," Scalia told the University of Hawaii law school while discussing Korematsu v. United States, the ruling in which the court gave its imprimatur to the internment camps.

The problem is that many-if-not-most of the Nisei Japanese were American Citizens or legal residents. An entire group of Americans condemned without due process.
Obama wants the authority to order drone attacks on American citizens overseas if he thinks they are involved in plotting terror. “He thinks”. Obama doesn’t have to present any evidence or submit to any recognized legal process.
How long before those drone attacks happen INSIDE the United States? Given enough time it will happen.
As far as I'm concerned. Non-Citizen "Legal Residents" of a country that goes to war with us are fair game.
Citizen descendants of another country are more problematic, but the fact is they weren't "condemned" they were detained. And they weren't deprived due process as Congress debated and voted on it. Does kind of drive home how important our elected officials are though doesn't it.
The fact is that Muslims should have been separated from the rest of the troops in the military when the war on Terror broke out. If we had done so, the Fort Hood Massacre would never have happened.
It's impossible to know how many of those detained would have sided with Japan and killed Americans. We do know that three did aid a Japanese airman before the detention started. H
ow many American lives are you willing to sacrifice on the altar of politcal correctness in a time of war? Our equal treatment of Muslims did cost us lives. Our equal treatment of Japanese would probably have cost lives.
Detention vs. Arrest and held without trial. It’s semantics. The Nisei lost much of their property or were forced to sell. Those families lost darned near everything. Some of those families gave sons as well.
I guess if demanding an adherence to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights makes me “Politically Correct”, so be it.
You want to change the Law so that US birth does not automatically confer citizenship? I might be open to that. But that was & remains the law whether the President or the US Supreme Court choose to enforce it is the issue.
