'Men are failing us,' says woman planning demonstration

AS TYEMA SANCHEZ of Northern Liberties got dressed yesterday morning, she carefully considered which purse to carry. Given the recent spate of purse-snatch shootings, she wondered whether she should carry her Louis Vuitton with the short straps. Under the circumstances, maybe a wiser choice was the brown Marshalls knockoff with the long strap that goes across her chest and keeps her hands free. Better yet, perhaps the smartest thing was not to carry a pocketbook at all and instead tuck her money into her bra. Anything's better than toting around what she's begun referring to as a "death ticket." Women across the city are having similar conversations with themselves lately, as Philadelphia reels from yet another senseless purse snatching/homicide. The latest happened early Sunday as two women left the Tropical Heat nightclub at 53rd and Market streets following a night of karaoke. Two men in hooded sweatshirts confronted the women about 2:35 a.m., took their handbags, then opened fire, killing Melissa Thomas, 29, and injuring her friend. All because of a damn handbag. MORE COVERAGE Tears, bewilderment after latest gunpoint robbery "She gave it up and she still was killed," said Sanchez, 40, an administrative assistant. "It's 2:40 in the morning. She's just coming out of the bar. At 2-something in the morning, they probably didn't have that much cash on them. "Where are our men? Why are they not protecting us?" Sanchez continued, her voice full of frustration. "Men are failing us. I feel as though we are not being protected."

so you are saying even if the wives were imperfect, the men were justified in beating and infidelity?

No, I would question the Christian-ness for men engaged in those activities. As I would the the honesty of the women without sin that would blame their husband in such a way.

don’t answer, you are too weird to have a conversation with

Judging from the thread weirdness is a property you hold in abundance. For one so skilled in it, perhaps to claim it in others is merely a projection, seek help.

the thing about Christians is the beating, the infidelity and the demands for submission the Christian men conveniently forget they are to lay down their lives for their spouse also their constant demands for respect and not to be what they call “emasculated”, which basically means they want what they want and don’t want to be held accountable to a woman

You may have spent too much time being a divorce lawyer. You primarily see the marriages which have not worked out, and I'm guessing you primarily hear the wife's side of the story.

There’s a pretty good book about a movement (if something spontaneous can be so categorised) of “Men On Strike”-men who are dropping out of dating and marriage. It makes the case that the men who choose to make their lives around their jobs and playing video games, aren’t being “Peter Pan”, they’ve just opted out of the usual expected trajectory of dating then marrying, because marriage these days, for a man, is like playing Russian Roulette with only one bullet missing. Even living with a woman can get you bankrupted and lose your children. Just a one-night-stand can land a man in prison if the woman has “drunken remorse”, which is a defense that men are never allowed to consider.

There's also "Men Going Their Own Way" (MGTOW), similar but distinct from "men on strike". The MGTOW philosophy is that men should not have themselves be defined by women and not have women dictate what men's goals and behavior should be. That men do not exist for the primary purpose of saving women from their own mistakes.

Carrying concealed in Philadelphia, even with a valid Pennsylvania concealed-carry permit, is a ticket to jail if a cop finds out.

No it's not. I've done it many times. The key thing is, the cop only finds out you were carrying if you had to shoot somebody. In that case, yes you will be arrested pending determination of whether it was valid self defense.

I looked it up. Pennsylvania allows CCW. The city disallows Open Carry.

Oh, we're still here, but after getting yelled at for opening doors for you, calling you ma'am, and otherwise treating the fairer sex as ladies, you pretty much taught us to mind our own business and let you take care of yourselves.

I was once an officer and a gentleman, but I've pretty much gone Galt on being a gentleman.

Where women (in general) really pi$$ me off the most is their inability let go of the past. I'm still being reminded of past failures/shortcomings from over 30 years ago. Not to mention it being the guy's responsibility to treat his ladyfriend as someone extra special, while no PDA comes from the woman.

At some point, you have to let...it...go.

As I’ve always said, equal rights for the sexes are equal rights foe the sexes, until she gets a flat tire in the rain. Then, it’s “You’re the man!”

No cops found out, did they.

Ha, my husband has lived by that philosophy since before it had an acronym. He’s very good to me and I love him, but he makes it perfectly clear to me and the wide world that he will do things on his terms if he does them at all, and he never deviates from his own path. The funny thing is, even having that philosophy, he’s the best person I’ve ever known. But he does good because he thinks it’s the thing for him to do, not because he feels obligated or that he owes anyone anything.

I hear ya...

Good grief.

Christianity has continued to be honest with women over the years.

Respect yourself.
Wait until marriage.
Don’t terminate the unborn, as it is wrong, and your stand strong emotional problems for having done it.
I don’t believe men should walk on women, but someone has to make the final decision, and at least some of the last decisions should be made by men.
A wise man will find it best to share the final decisions. Wise women will cooperate with this.

The formula for long & happy marriages is all laid out in Ephesians.

And that formula is the antithesis of what is encouraged by popular culture today.
