TYBEE ISLAND, Georgia Endangered piping plovers blend into the background of sandy beaches like Tybee's, where these small shorebirds are known to visit.
First decimated by the use of their feathers in women's hats in the late 1800s, plovers have since suffered from having to compete with humans for beach space. Now only 60 or so breeding pairs remain in the smallest of their three known populations.
The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service has identified global warming and wind turbines as emerging threats to these birds.

Why don’t liberals like nuclear power? Nuclear produces zero of the dreaded greenhouse gases.
You mean doing actual work?
Don’t have time as they are much to busy protesting something/anything.
Per jojo biden, one word: “Fukashima sunami”. As far as the wind mills. Per hildebeast vs birds: “What difference at this point does it make?” They’ve already given them carte blanche to chop up those pesky eagles.
Why do they have to use wind turbines, known to chop up birds? Why can’t they use tidal power, wave power or other forms of water power, since they have coastline and many rivers?
Why don’t they use non-bird harming turbines? There are several new designs for this.

Is it me, or do the savings seem a bit skimpy?
I still have a plan in the works to reward homeless people
with a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich
to run in a human-sized hamster wheel to generate electricity.
The anti-nuke lefties are a gang of bed wetting hysterics, who are so afraid that that one atom of radioactive magic is going to melt their genes and give them cancer that they have strangled mankind’s greatest technological achievement.
We should do what France did, nuclearize electric power generation and electrify our transportation grid, so we will never have to kiss Saudi butt ever again.
Of course the turbines will hurt birds. Bats, too. With the Gulf Stream current going right past the Georgia coast, you’d think they could generate some electricity just by putting a turbine in the sea.
Because they know every nuclear plant gives them less to bitch about.
Build wind turbines everywhere...Kill all birds...and bats. Who gave them permission top fly freely???? Furthermore, they don’t pay any taxes to support ongoing LIB/DIM lunacy.
Put the turbines someplace where they will shred DemocRats and RINOs instead of birds. Then they can perform a dual function.
Windmills have become an icon in the religion of leftism.
Chopped Fish?

BTW, Popular Science, et. al., have run as many Tidal Power Future! stories over tha past 40 or 50 years as they have stories on Moller's Flying Car! in a Garage Near You - SOON!
The center 40% of a propeller or rotor does very little work. This design does not look very efficient.
The main problem with wind power is that it is inconsistent in most locales. Those that have reliable high wind speeds tend to be either unpopulated and thus no local demand for power or they are populated by the idle rich who delight in protesting the spoiling of their view of the mountains or the beach.
On the other hand, wind turbines don't melt into the ground and spew gobs of radioactive debris. Have you checked in on the Fukushima reactors lately?
Wind turbines are an ugly blight on the landscape and produce little power. They are useless.
Coal, gas, and hydroelectric power are really the best.
A few years ago, the great windmill-tilter, Don Quixote, was popular among liberals. Never mind that he was also one of the greatest losers who never lived. I guess liberals don’t care for him anymore, now that they are into windmills.
And this is why even alternative-energy sources will fail.
