If it wasnt for the oh-so-recent context that renders this acidly ironic, MSNBCs latest foray into idiocy would hardly be worth mentioning. Coming just a few weeks after its own hosts mocked Mitt Romneys family and Republicans over a family picture that showed Romney proudly holding his adopted African-American granddaughter which eventually produced a tearful apology from Melissa Harris-Perry the networks official Twitter feed offered up this bon mot about a cereal ad that has nothing to do with politics at all
This is really getting weird with these guys. Nobody I know and nobody in my trailer park gave the slightest s**t over the biracial Cheerios, so, is this completely made up? Libs now have to pretend that conservatives are getting upset over something when they couldn’t care less?
OK, fine.
The little girl was adorable. The libs are just pissed because it wasn’t an LGBT couple. Breeders drive them crazy.
The bi-racial nature of it doesn’t bother me 1/10th as much as the contrived idea of it for a commercial. Who cares? And since nobody does, why do it in the first place?
What kind of a statement is this? What pray tell is going to be benefited by it? What part of society needs to change, meaning this message is necessary?
It’s a message that is so far behind the times that it’s just pathetic to be pulling this routine in 2014.
Why not put an add on as if to motivate people not to object to hair cuts like the Beatles had? Same thing. Just another day in moronic Liberal moonbat central.
I'm also calling "BS" on this "conservative freak out" over the Cheerios ad.
Nobody, no conservative, gives a rat's a$$ about it.
This is just liberals trying to gin up a phony scandal for the low info crowd.
Y’know, I think this is analogous to a DOS (denial of service) attack.
You busy the other side with a made up something in order to divert them from getting their message out.
Since the other side is shameless and feels no shame even if exposed as playground-level and factually incorrect, in other words, there is no cost to this kind of goofery, it’s becoming more and more common. We shouldn’t be surprised, but this is a new level of clumsiness.
I saw the commercial and the little girl is absolutely ADORABLE and you want to know something else, I didn’t even notice the woman in the commercial is white, didn’t notice it at all, which proves that once again it is the LEFT that is obsessed with race, they are the racist ones. I looked at that commercial and saw a cute commercial promoting Cheerios, the left looks at that commercial and sees race
I saw a bi-racial family on a Swifter TV commercial yesterday.
I must be bent out of shape over that one as well...
I love the expression on the wife’s face. To be fair it was Mrs. V that brought home the puppy with out first talking to me about it.
Is this the one where she’s dumped Cheerios all over her dad?
If so, I noticed the *mess*.
:D
I watched the new one.
Aside from the girl’s enviably clever negotiation for a puppy, the message I got was that Cheerios cause pregnancy.
/HA!
Some Freepers are horrified that I eat them (I have actually been lectured here!) but I don't care.
I am the most ferocious breakfast cereal eater, and my Jethro Bowl is a prized utensil.
But after General Mills came out with this ad campaign during "Gay Pride Month" last year, I am not eating any more of their cereals:
"...The new campaign centers around the leprechaun-loving toasted-oat-and-marshmallow cereal and uses the handle #LuckyToBe. General Mills announced the campaign in the video above and in a press release sent to homosexual lobbying group GLAAD, in which the company declared, Were celebrating Pride month with whimsical delight, magical charms, and two new rainbow marshmallows. . . . If youre lucky enough to be different, were celebrating you.
It turned my stomach.
I know what you mean. I will tell you though, I’ve seen them pull this kind of nonsense for so long it seems commonplace to me.
We had a great guy out here in California. He was a very level headed Conservative. He ran for Senator.
They found out he once had drinks at a strip joint. They blew this out into a major scandal, and it really hurt the electability of our candidate. They pulled this a short time before the election and there wasn’t time for it to sink in and be dismissed by the public.
Man, that is some twisted campaign. Kids are the breakfast cereal eaters. What kind of message is this, that your extra special if your a homosexual. Talk about trying to sell a lifestyle to kids.
I agree with you.
No, its the one where the little girl is sitting with her Dad talking about the new baby that will be arriving soon..at the end she says she wants a puppy and the Dad says “Deal” the look on the wife’s face is like WTF
I know. It nauseated me. Makes me pretty angry, too.
My wife doesn’t feel the same way I do about these things, and she was puzzled when I told her I didn’t want to buy more General Mills products. She knew how much I enjoyed eating those cereals, but...to her credit, she respected my wishes and doesn’t buy them for me.
Good for her. Isn’t it strange how logical this move was for you seeing what you noted, and yet another smart person couldn’t see it at all?
I’ve been in that boat, and it’s very hard to understand.
Bruce Herschensohn
Yep, that’s right.
Remember his debates with Bill Press on ABC(7) in Los Angeles?
Herschensohn used to literally destroy press in those debates. It was embarrassing. I don’t think Press ever grasped how destroyed he was, and the Democrat party never grasped it either.
He lingered on in various roles, some of them rather high profile. I think they finally figured it out. Press was an ignorant SOB.
Bruce was the real deal IMO. Our state and nation would have been better off for his involvement in our decision making.
He wasn’t just smart. He could convert his knowledge into meaningful sound-bytes, that would have you thinking, “Man, I believe that too, but I never quite thought of it that way before.”
Man the Left was scared to death of him.
