If you were one of the lucky few guys who found any .22 long rifle on the shelves in the last thirteen months, Winchester needs you to check your stockpile. It turns out they double-charged two lots of their M22 plinking/target ammo, and these accidental .22 Super-Duper Magnums can blow your gun up and ruin your chiseled, movie-star good looks. Make the jump for the recall details . . .
From Winchesters Recall Page:
1/28/2014
Olin Corporation, through its Winchester Division, is recalling two (2) lots of M*22 22 Long Rifle 40 Grain Black Copper Plated Round Nose rimfire ammunition.
Symbol Number: S22LRT
Lot Numbers: GD42L and GD52L
Winchester has determined the above lots of 22 Long Rifle rimfire ammunition may contain double powder charges. Ammunition with double powder charges may subject the shooter or bystanders to a risk of serious personal injury and/or death, or cause firearm damage, rendering the firearm inoperable.

Who would of thought then, what we know now.
Nothing wrong with buying and stocking up when stuff is available and cheap. ;)

I reload. Components have gone up but reloading 9mm is still cheaper and easier to find than .22 right now. If I weren’t feeling lazy I’d be down stairs putting some rounds together right now.
I have access to 7.62x39 but it’s not my favorite round to shoot.
Your talking about the Saiga Ak-47, and not the Saiga 12, right? I wanted to buy the Saiga 12 but decided against it.
Yeah. I have a Savage pump for a shotgun. I wanted simple, idiot proof, tank-like reliability. I was not excited by what I read about the Saiga shotgun.
I have an AR & the Saiga AK. SHTF and I could only keep one it would be the AK. I love the 20 second field strip compared to the AR's cleaning, and its ability to fire cheap ammo reliably and get by with minimal half ass cleaning, among other things. Someone said the AK was designed for illiterate, drunken conscripts who fall down in the mud a lot. That's the carbine for me.
I have bought some recalled ammo from Sportsmans for my 30-378. 180 grain Accubonds chron'ed over 3700 and I had the tightest bolt I've ever experienced. I called in lot number and Weatherby told me to send it to them, don't shoot anymore they said, ha ha.
Stick with CCI. Winchester .22 is junk
The .38 Super is a semi-rimless round, basically a very hot .38 ACP. It will not interchange with the .38 Special, but duplicates the 125 grain loading of the .357 Magnum.
we have over a thousand rounds, guess I had better check the boxes.
lots of .22 up here in Alberta, should go for a holiday heh.
ya, any authentic one, inaccurate as heck lol
I agree. I only buy CCI Stingers.
Somebody keeps buying them as soon as they come in and then takes them to the gun shows and triples the price. Arseholes.
Thanks for the post. I just BCC’d everyone in my contacts that might have .22s.
The Winchesters screw up in my Marlin 22 and my Mosquito. The CCI Mags are flawless.
