Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) archaeologist Eli Shukron shows an ancient seal, at an archaeological site known as the City of David in Jerusalem
On an ancient hill dotted with 1,000-year-old olive trees, Israelis are busy excavating in search of the first palace of King David in the heart of the West Bank.
The Jewish settlers who started the dig with the help of Israel's Antiquities Authority say they want to turn it into an archaeological park to celebrate its historical significance.
But for Palestinians who hope the West Bank will someday form part of a Palestinian state, the move is a grab not only for land but also for their past - a ploy to cut them out of history and away from land they say is rightfully theirs.
The Bible says David, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel and Judah, first ruled in Hebron before conquering Jerusalem to the north. [...] Most countries consider the settlements Israel has built on land captured in the 1967 Middle East war as illegal, and Palestinians fear the enclaves will deny them a viable state made up of East Jerusulem, the West Bank and Gaza.
"Of course there are antiquities here, Roman antiquities. To say Solomon's palace or whatever was here is a conspiracy and a big lie," he said. "They come and plant the stones here, just to serve their own interests and take away our rights."
“They come and plant the stones here, just to serve their own interests and take away our rights.”
Planted stones 3000 years ago, just to further their nefarious plans. How devious.
ooooh ! Those dirty Jooooz !
How do they do it ?
Jewish time machine. Natch!
"Human dolls that talk???"
“Jewish time machine. Natch!”
Thanks. Now everyone knows about it. Now we’ll have to come up with something even more devious.
US Congress 1939 records foreign Arab immigration into 'vacant land' of Palestine
In every corner of the globe it was known for thousands of years that the homeland of the Jewish people was their historic homeland in the land that the Romans called “Palestine.” There was, however, never a sovereign country called “Palestine.” History books, chronicles, travellers’ diaries speak of this place as the homeland of the Jews. No one disputed that, until a set of lies was started by the Arabs whose parents had migrated to the Jewish land to get jobs, learn skills, and prosper in a way they and their neighbors never had in Arab-controlled lands. The next generations of Arabs don’t even know they’ve been fed a diet of lies and are championing a pack of lies. If one place could be fairly called the country of the Arabs who started to use the name “Palestinians,” it would be Jordan. That’s where the majority came from. If they want their own country, that would be the most logical and fair place. There are 22 Muslim countries. One tiny Jewish one, where Muslims have a better standards of living, education, social services, civil rights, medical care than in neighboring Muslim countries. Still, the Arabs are so bigoted that they’ve said that will not allow Jews in a country they control. They eat hate day and night. Jealousy, too. When Pakistan and India faced this kind of bigotry from Muslims, the issue was dealt with through a big population transfer of Muslims to Pakistan and non-Muslims to India under international law.
There is no ‘palestine’ but for the Roman appellation. Nor are there any palestinians but for various inbred conglomerations of islamist arabs which Israel, for whatever God forsaken reason, forces itself to endure.
* SNORT!* *giggle*
How's that workin' out for you in Gaza?
There's no intention to found a state. The leaders will just pocket the foreign aid and move to Paris, while blaming the Jews.
Who started that war? Israel, but it was in response to what the Arabs, to this day, continue to do, cause terror. PLO was bombing Israel and had been ramping it up. Syria was launching artillery strikes into Israel so they were completely justified in what they did and it was Egypt, Syria and Jordan who surround Israel, what was Israel supposed to do, sue for peace?
They have made it perfectly clear that no amount of concessions from Israel are enough because the Arab states want Israel completely destroyed.
I'll never understand American Jews who continue to vote for dems even though the dems are committed to the Arab's side of the argument, just look at John Kerry, he wants to make Israel commit suicide for peace. How about the Arabs stop launching attacks against innocent people? And what will no doubt be the final insult if Kerry is successful will be that he gets a Nobel Peace prize like Odinga and Arafat. Luckily, Kerry is a moron so I'm hoping his initiative fails.
This is like Munich in 1938, Germany wrote the terms of the agreement to partition the Sudetenland, got the allies to buy into it and forced Czechoslovakia to let German soldiers march right into the Sudetenland, then in around six more months, Germany took the rest of Czechoslovakia.
Winston Churchill said it best and it applies to Israel today, denouncing the Agreement in the House of Commons:
"We have suffered a total and unmitigated defeat ... you will find that in a period of time which may be measured by years, but may be measured by months, Czechoslovakia will be engulfed in the Nazi régime. We are in the presence of a disaster of the first magnitude ... we have sustained a defeat without a war, the consequences of which will travel far with us along our road ... we have passed an awful milestone in our history, when the whole equilibrium of Europe has been deranged, and that the terrible words have for the time being been pronounced against the Western democracies: "Thou art weighed in the balance and found wanting". And do not suppose that this is the end. This is only the beginning of the reckoning. This is only the first sip, the first foretaste of a bitter cup which will be proffered to us year by year unless by a supreme recovery of moral health and martial vigour, we arise again and take our stand for freedom as in the olden time."
Churchill was so brilliant and prescient.
How can Israel be blamed for starting a war when they were responding to acts of war (attacks) against them?
If it wasn’t so sad, it would actually be kind of comical to watch all this.
The more civil, human, peaceful and upward the Jews are, the more the Palestinians act like the violent monkeys at the waterhole in 2001.
And the world sides with the violent, anti-intellectual savages.
They say comedy is the justaposition of two incongruous concepts. And the more the Palestinians hate learning, peace, knowledge, and civil behavior,,,the more they are loved. It really is almost funny in a way.
Exactly. Just goes to show us how the left really lives in an altered reality.
Exactly. The unilateral return of Gaza was their chance to show the world something. they were handed a turnkey city, ethnically cleansed of Jews by force, complete with infrastructure, greenhouses, everything. It was beside a beach.
And they were right beside Israel. If they acted properly as good neighbors, does realize the kind of trade and commerce they could have had access and been part of?
They moved in, tore up everything good, and started nonstop launching of rockets. Idiots, they are truly idiots, incapable of more. The only answer with them is the wall and isolation.
Your Post #15 is so incredibly spot-on.
They were gift-wrapped the entire Gaza Peninsula. The had the ability to start making money, being able to eat decently, have a roof over their heads and put down some roots - even set up a future for their kids and grandkids.
But they trashed everything.
What the Palestinians need to come to grips with is that Israel is not going anywhere. They need to come to grips with the fact that there never really was a Palestine, that is, in terms of an organized nation.
My strong support for Israel aside, I can’t have any sympathy for savages and malcontents like the Palestinians.
In the Koran, in 3 places, Allah says all of Israel, including Jordan belongs to the Hebrews. Therefore these Muslims are blasphemers.
