Attorney General Eric Holder said at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing today that President Obama is open to using an executive action to push through gun-control and/or associated mental health measures that haven’t found approval in Congress.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), one of the top proponents of new gun-control measures in Congress, noted that Obama only made a “very brief” reference to gun violence in his State of the Union address.
“But I hope, and I hope you will join me in the view that the president remains completely committed to ending gun violence in this country, adopting common sense sensible measures like background checks and mental health initiatives; a ban on straw purchases and illegal trafficking,” Blumenthal said to Holder at the Justice Department oversight hearing.

Sorry for my faux pas, or to use Hillary's words, I misspoke. I should have said that it will take both the House and the Senate to remove the president. Without Senate support, it won't happen---in Congress.

Nor I. But I would point out for the record that Akamai has your IP addresses plus maybe a cookie or two in your browser although I don't any cookies from them in mine. Basically when LyinLibs posts those pictures from Facebook, Facebook uses the akamai network to speed up downloading. When anyone access that FR web page their IP address and browser info goes into the Akamai server access logs. If they hit reply on any post in that thread (more specifically on that page of 50 posts that contains the pictures) then their FR name and IP can be associated by looking at the Akamai server logs plus the FR post time. Piece of cake really.
Also for the record, here's a story that I thought was interesting from Bloomberg: The U.S. National Security Agency’s eavesdropping on foreign heads of state will probably hurt Akamai Technologies Inc. (AKAM)’s business in Germany, Chief Executive Officer Tom Leighton said.
Akamai, which helps corporate customers deliver online content faster, is caught up in the growing backlash against American Internet companies, he said.
Allegations that the NSA gained access to e-mails between world leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, and their staffs, have raised questions about the data being held and managed by U.S. Internet companies. Akamai operates computer servers across the globe to speed up the distribution and delivery of Web content, which means that data being tracked by the NSA or any other authority most likely passes through its network.
“It’s clearly bad for American companies,” Leighton said yesterday at The Year Ahead: 2014, a two-day conference in Chicago hosted by Bloomberg LP. “It’s particularly bad now in Germany, where it’s really being played up, to whip up anti-American corporate sentiment. We’ll probably lose some business there.”
Ok, so it's bad for American companies. But would it be badder for Akamai than other companies? Why would that be?

I get that and know that both houses play a role in ousting the president: one to impeach and one to vote him out of office.

Thank you. The amount of gangland turf shootings does not account for the drug addled criminal mind that shoots his girl friend or decides to shoot someone in a bar because of a loss of self control these individuals seem to acquire. In my neck of the woods, we have a bus driver get shot because he demanded bus fare from a man with substance-abuse problems and a history of 71 arrests.
Another man who was convicted for the beating death of Seattle’s famed Tuba Man was arrested for the Mirror Lounge at Munchbar shooting death of another man last New Years Eve. Ja’mari Alexander Jones had recently served only 72 weeks in juvenile detention for the Tuba Man killing before his arrest for the Munchbar shooting. He and two other teens involved in the Tuba Man killing have been involved in gang activities.
The light sentences, even after numerous arrests, shows a problem in the legal system that fails to take these criminals out of circulation once they are arrested.
