DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. -
A 7-year-old girl at Thomas Claggett Elementary School in District Heights, Md., was beaten unconscious by at least four classmates Tuesday morning.
It happened during recess in the school’s gymnasium.
The little girl’s parents say their daughter was taken by ambulance to Children's Hospital in D.C. She was diagnosed with a mild concussion.
Her mother, Phersephone Holland, says she can't believe it happened at school.
"That's my baby. I bring her to school and that's the least thing I expect is a phone call informing me that my daughter is unconscious,” she says.
Holland says she is wondering where all the adults were during the attack. So is the victim's father, Rodney Smyers. He says this isn't the first time his daughter has been bullied and hit at school.

I don’t care what color the perps or victim was. This is why the majority of kids who really want to learn are intimidated by packs of nascient felons allowed to run wild.
Neither students nor teachers should have to deal with kind of scum. They should be sent to a reform school run by retired marines.
This poor little girl was beaten by 4 other kids in elementary school? When did it stop being the occassional “innocent” kid one-on-one fights which was usually a little pushing and maybe a slap and change into a mob beatings even in elementary school.
I lived there - when I was nine years old. My dad finally came back from Korea and elsewhere and got stationed at Andrews AFB. While he was gone we lived with Grandpa and when he came back, we lived in an apartment in District Heights.
Haven’ been back there in 50 years.
And the 'press' would have been all over the story...
She’s a black girl, beaten by at least four of Obama’s sons. My guess is for “acting white” because she has a father in the home and is doing well in her schoolwork.
If this was in District Heights, the perps aren’t white. I lived outside DC 25 years ago and even back then that corner of PG County was a no-go for those of us who were more melanin-challenged. And weren’t in a Stryker armored vehicle with a fireteam of Army infantry as backup.

Poor baby. I’m convinced that kids are only getting meaner as time passes. Don’t let all their talk of “tolerance” and “acceptance” fool you. A good portion, if not a majority, of kids are jerks.
Little girl is black. I have no idea what color the assailants are, but I would guess black as well.
Believe me, if they weren’t you would have heard about it.
